If you switch the Tx off with the model still on it spools up? Check your fail safe settings either via the Tx or on the ESC itself if it has that feature (I'm clueless with ESCs sorry).

no I just mean when the heli is powered up and in hold then when I switch hold off it spools up I'm not sure what to do how to change it
but good point about the fail safe that's something I've not checked yet.

Check the servo monitor in your transmitter, see what output it's really sending on the throttle channel in and out of TH and other flight modes. Could be ESC throttle calibration, could even be a reversed throttle channel with the ESC not arming until you've flicked in and out of TH. Maybe I'm a bad person to comment after trashing an ESC because of failing to follow my own advice..

OK so (with the pinion off), lower the throttle stick to idle and take it out of throttle hold. Switch the heli on. Does the ESC arm, or go into setup mode?

                Hi James,

Make sure there is no throttle trim in normal mode. Sometimes the ESC will read this as throttle input and begin spooling up.

                Cheers
