I used to have an ATLAS ESC (70 amp IIRC) in one of my fixed wing sport models - it did an excellent job in that but never used one in a Heli - assuming your not using the governor then I can't see why it wouldn't do the job?

Never given a governor a thought are they useful to have in an esc?

It depends on how you prefer to set things up... Most people just have a standard esc and use Throttle curves to maintain the head speed.

However some people use the ESC's built in governor to maintain the head speed (doing away with throttle curves) - However most ESC's that have a governor built in don't work very well (if at all!) - the only ESCs that are good are the Kontronic Jive and YGE ESCs (Both german built lol)

Hence with the Atlas esc, If you're just using it as an ESC and mainting headspeed using throttle curves then I'd recommend it

However I have not tried the Governor in that ESC so cannot comment how good it is in governor mode (I wouldn't expect it to be that good, their a lot cheaper than the JIVE and YGE escs)
