  • Brushless MCPX motor and pinion help please

    Hi

I recently bought a brushless V1 MCPX with the following 10a esc:

    http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/ha...v1-v2-pnp.html

    an 11000kv motor (hawk)

    http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/ha...-for-mcpx.html

    and this tail:

    http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/ha...-for-mcpx.html

However, I find that there is not enough power for me - it bogs quite a bit and there is no way it can do tic tocs or rainbows. Also the flight time is only about 2 1/2 minutes of flips etc on a 300mah lipo.

As I am not good enough to 3D or do circuits with this thing indoors, I want to upgrade the motor to something that won't bog. I don't want to do any modding or change the tail - the frame is a rakonheli one.

However, I do want to keep the crashability - currently I have slammed this thing into windows, a roof, various trees, concrete etc and it just won't break... some of these being powered crashes too .

If changing the motor makes it break every crash then I'd rather get a 130x .

I starter this thread on HF, and was recommended an HP05 with an 8 or 9t pinion, however these are hard to find in the Uk. Is there any other motor that can be bought from europe that will work ideally with both the stock eflite batteries (for 2 mins of 3d) and the 550mah ones without having to reflash escs, get a brushless tail etc, and most importantly one that won't break the heli every crash.

Or if anyone has an hp05 for sale please let me know

    thanks!

    Stanley

Hi Stanley, might be worth chatting to Trevor at Midlands: he does a 14000KV motor for this Hawk 10A esc, which should be pretty similar to the HP05 as that is 14000KV as well I believe.

    Cheers

I would buy one from midlands but they're out of stock :/. I was thinking maybe the spin motor from Fast-Lads (I think equal to the HP06v2) but I'm not sure if it will work with a non bl-heli esc or if it will take a crash at all.

Of course it won't work with a non BL ESC... It's a brushless motor and needs a brushless ESC.

I didn't find crash damage any worse really on my upgraded mCPX, but that was with many upgraded parts and 3mm boom. As Long as you hit throttle hold fairly quick the head still slows down fast.

The spins are pretty good motors - was impressed with the quality.

it is a BL ESC - just not the ones that are flashed with the BLheli firmware to enable the governor etc.

What are you running in your MCPX at the moment?

It probably looks like the spin motor from FL for me unless midland get the HP05s back in stock by the end of the week.

Oh, no that's no problem... Doesn't need to be flashed.

I'm running a spin and xp12-a (stock firmware). The spin is more powerful than HP05S.

I wouldn't run either on stock lipos though, 550mah Hyperion all the way!

Hmm I've got 4 550s but 8 200/300 ones too. How long would you say I'd get with them?

No more than 2.5- 3 mins of useful flight IMO.

Mine straight up couldn't cope, after a minute or so the things would sag so much the heli just fell out of the air when you loaded it up too much.
