'm sure in a thread I posted regarding paralelling packs for my 600 that this wasnt advisable for reasons of voltage drop on all of the conections but now were saying this is ok why is that
Because if YOU parallel the packs you use big ass long cables, deans connectors etc etc and with that comes voltage drop. Where as if the packs are built paralleled at the tabs (soldered) you get virtually no voltage drop.
I put two 2200 together and checked with overlander the suppliers of tornado batteries, and they said it was fine and will not do the packs harm in the long run.
the 2100 revo packs WILL work with a 12t pinion fine i'm sure. please try it and report back how you find it. we have always said since getting the heli those packs will work but don't expect major performance out of them on a 13t pinion. if you want performance from them then parallel up the packs and make a 4200 which will give you about 8 mins of insane HS.
imo 2500 is the minimum someone should buy, if you own smaller packs use them but do so wisely, i.e 12t or go easy on 13t. my fp2500 works fine but i feel it lacks a little punch.
because there are less points of failure. But this is the only reason, if they are soldered at the tabs then there is little difference between a single cell 4200 and a two cell 4200 built from two paralleled 2100s. This assumes the solder joint is a good one and not a crap crimp like you get on some packs.
True Ash,this is what i meant, the less cells the better really

I was flying mine on 2 2100 packs and it was acceptable on the 13tooth but the 12 tooth had a bit of low headspeed wobble as the flight progressed,i reckon if the packs are reasonably good still and you dont overly abuse it,the heli will be fine but indeed a higher MAH would be better
No being sensible,i can only say what the power is like and duration and balance etc,i have to pay for my packs so dont get hundreds of configurations for free to play with,,(tounge in cheek)
although i dont have a 500, i use the Tornado packs from Overlander in my 450se v2, and compared to everyhting else ive tried, they are brilliant packs. easily outperforming align, electrolite, lots of cheapy brands, flightpower 2170's etc etc. Id happily recommend them to anyone, and would like to see how they held up in a 500.
Martin, come down my way and you can use 2 of them if you want
i wsas given one of those to try and break lol. Taffage on here bought a couple, but he isnt doing anything ot push them yet, so asked me to have a fly and punish it to see what it was like and see how it stood up, and i have to say i was massivley impressed for the price. the only thing i could really fault was that the duration was maybe 30 seconds short of what i get on the Tornados. i may get myself one or 2 as a pair of backups, but tbh i dont get much stick time on the 450...
