  • Hi guys

Sorry to hear about that Sesame.
This BEC / ESC issue is getting me concerned I have a DCup on the way but may get a Herc or similar now.

On a different note, I am having trouble getting the right torque on the screws that retain the arms to the washout base. They seemed free to move only when the screw was quite loose. As soon as I nipped it up, the arm was binding slightly. Any ideas please?
    Thanks.

    • Lee,

Have you got the washers in both sides of the washout arm?
      Cheers Matt

Hi Matt, There wasn't a washer on the inside on that screw (there was on the mixer arm above) and there wasn't one in the pack. I will double check the manual but I don't recall seeing one there

          • Sesame,

Really sorry to hear this. As Stuartn has mentioned, you must feedback back this info to the people you bought it from and or the UK distrubuter.

It certainly doesn't look like you did anything wrong.
            Cheers Matt

Your correct Lee, there souldn't be washers either side, there should be a raised portion on the washout base unit itself though that the bearing of the washout arm sits on. This is there? Also there should be the collar in between the two bearings in the washout arms.

              • Thanks Matt. The base has the raised area but I don't know about the spacer in between the two bearings. I will check tonight.

                      • Cheers guys.

Align have been made aware of the problem and the supplier has acted quickly and will be despatching me a new ESC today. The servo they didnt have so ive ordered 1 elswhere so hope to have that tomorrow as well.

I dont hold out much hope of getting the money for the servo, but who knows.

at least I have half a chance of getting the machine in the air this week....I hope

Stuart...the unit dont look any different to how it did before, just a large puff of smoke came out of the end of it, no burn marks on the outside. Haved to say I am very wary now about using the same unit and will probably take a look at the hercules Robs suggesting.
                        All the best

                        • high current herc is the one to go for.

Today I flew the 6S 3200 revo back to back with the 5S 4200. Also had the correct pinions, 13T for 6S and 15T for 5S.

6S 3200 definitely has more beans than 5S 4200. So for the more hardcore 3D guys that's the pack that seems to be best from what we've tried so far.
5S 4200 is still no slouch, you could easily do a full 3D routine on it but you can hear it loose a little more headspeed and load a bit more in the moves. Trev might add his comments, he didn't fly them but he watched and you could see and hear the difference.

                          • Just noticed this on the real raptors website for the high current Herc - in case anyone is running 35MHz

"NOTE: This Hercules BEC High Current version is only recommended for 2.4Ghz radio systems"

                            • superb stuff ash, thats exactly what i was expecting and means i can happily stick with 6s altough i will fly the 5s pack for myself so if anyone aks i can comment on what it is like. so we know fact now the revo 3200 6s and revo 4200 5s (depending on if user wants 5/6) are the best options for performance/flightime? that fair folks based on what we know now?

                              cheers

                              • yeah, 5S 4200 to me is the best 5S option although if people are desperate for lightweight they can go 5S 3200. 6S 3200 to me is the best 6S option. Both fit without modification to the frames or canopy BUT for best performance the 6S pack benefits from the canopy post move to get the packs slightly higher. Plus we could actually run a 6S brick then instead of two 3S 3200s in series.
