that's what i have done have dropped the tray about 20mm and the 5s4200 revo sits on top and perfect balance its also nice and high will upload pics l8er but this is a very simple mod.

          • Arky..Any chance of a piccy in situ?.

I finally got a chance to fly with the 4200 packs sitting high up as per picture above BIG IMPROVEMENT..getting the weight up higher is making a huge difference. It now flies like a much lighter heli overall..

Well OK it is carrying an extra 100 + g but feels so much more nimble compared to having the packs low down. TBH its getting close to the 3200 6S setup except the you get 7.20sec of decent 3D flying against the 6min on the 32's plus H/S retention with the the 42's is much stronger throughout.

When Mike at Aurrora gets hold of the High 'c' rated 3300,s I think these will be the ones to look at for porformance and sensible flightimes

I think my next look at this will be to re-arange the pack layout again..I'm thinking of turning the lower pack through 90 deg and taping to the upper one..end on it will be T shaped..This will allow the tray to be dropped but avoid the lower pack fowling on the canopy mount rubber fixings (poss use button head screws).

I'll have to have look out the proximity of the drive pinion

Any chance of a photo of this area between your frames Arky or is your tray still above the canopy mounting point???

            cheers brian

                • I'm wanting to get as much of the packweight back a bit more than you have there... by using the space behind the canopy mount..I will be happy then

                  • i chose to do the plastic bar in the middle but TBO you can move the pack back another 20mm before it hits the canopy and raise the pack quite a bit if you lose this bar and just use two screws from inside but I'm gona try this as balance seems good and the weight is mostly up top and there's plenty of room round the pack.

                      • Question guys..Any off you flown the Aligns and Sabs on the same setup..whilst they do seem a lot stiffer etc my Mha per flight appears to have increased noticably.

TBH I did make two changes at once though by also altering my Idle 2 throttle curve from 100/85/100 to a 100% flatline..any thoughts?

                        • now I am major league ****ed off.

me and align are gonna fall out BIGtime.

This evening I thought I would do as suggested and change the setup a little by changing the bec to 6V and just have a step down in the tail servo.

plugged battery in first I noticed that the DCup was only showing 4.6 V which i did think odd but put it initially down to maybe low battery, anyway I went through the prog routine got to the bit to change voltage, no problems so far finished the programing just as I did a large smelly cloud of smoke can out the bec, I disconected as quick as I could to check the other gear I put a 4.8 battery back into the reciever the aileron servo was not moving, then another puff of smoke came out of that too.

I am so ****ed off right now. I thought writting it out on here may help but it hasnt

so what happens here do align own up to selling a piece of shit or have I done something stoopid and caused it.
                          All the best
                          Tony.

                              • Sorry to hear the news mate. With the BEC in its current state I would be tempted to take as many pics as possible. Maybe even send copies to Align direct. I would say you should be getting a new one and servo FOC at the very least. Thier is obviously an issue of merchantability with regards to the BEC. I would hate to see Align chuck away such a sweet looking product reputation by not re-acting quick enough to customers growing concerns.
                                Cheers
