I think the hardcore fliers will still go 6S (with the right pack size) as it will outperform 5S but for most the correct size 5S pack looks like it will do perfectly fine.
The thing that really attracts me to the 5S 4200.....over any other 5S configuration is the way it fits into the frames, it's a fantastic fit in the 3S underneath and 2S on top config. The pack is so snug into the frames that it's extremely well protected in the event of a crash. The weight is also nice and tight to the mainshaft rather than sticking out front.

Has Mike got these lips in stock in this configuration & how much are they?
Martin
Not sure, he only just sent mine this week so I assume he has stock.
The one reservation I do have with this pack configuration is that it is two packs, so charging two 5S at once on a Cellpro 10S isn't possible as it's four packs in total, two 3S and two 2S.
I, going to ask Mike is it's possible to get around that using a Y-Lead type affair on the balance plugs.
Would be ok for someone with a 10s & two cellpro 4's tho Ash
Just need to get a 10s when it's out.
Oh & enough 12v batteries in the back of his car to run a small Scottish Village like Glasgow
Martin
that is very true......I unfortunately blew the crap out of my cellpro last night at 2am.
Was just doing so server admin on trextuning and thought bugger, not charged that second 3S pack for the 500, plugged it straight in the cellpro and bang, dead cellpro.......all my fault, forgot to take the damn y-lead of the pack and effectively plugged a 6S pack into a 4S charger.
Morale of the story.....don't do charging when you are dog tired, you make stupid mistakes.
Ash, Raptorheli2 and myself already posted and suggested to Mike a while back to come up with an adapter lead to allow the 10S charger to see the 3S/2S as a single 5S pack etc to allow full use of the charger..we are just waiting for something to come of it (also to allow 3 x 3S packs)
Fitting the larger 4200 pack below the tray is a BIG mistake..You are killing the cyclic performance no end. You need to keep the weight as high up as possible near the main rotors...large pack on top please no arguments!
If you keep it lower your rolls will be barrelly and not axial...also flips are affected..similiarly..The model will require more cyclic pitch to achieve the same results..You also lose out as it increases drag using more Mha and there is a limit on how much cyclic you can carry making the model feel sluggish relatively speaking In the air.
If you dont believe me stick your 3200 6s on the top tray as far up and back as possible the pack weight is very similiar to the 42 5S and try it back to back..
Will the 4200 5s revos not fit under the canopy as a brick formation then?
This is where I see this model: IMHO which is the same as a few others on here. It has to be a single pack configuration 5s if possible. The benefits are this: only one lump to remove and charge, ability to charge two packs at once with the new charger and most of all packs should be well under £100
Chris you can get a 3200 Revo 5S now..I'm running a Revo 2 x 3S (6S) and its the best balance between performance and duration that I have found so far. The 6S is extremely tight to fit though see earlier posts but the 5S will drop in.
Mat see first paragraph post above for charging.. post 908
You won't get the 5S 4200 on the tray unfortunately..but can sit the 3S on top and the 2S on the bottom of the upper tray as they squeeze between the frames..just.
I think Paul, Raptorheli2 can help out with a pic..
i flew the 3200 on 6s today as per the pics and it was SUPERB on it's first cycle. it rolls very true now forward or backwards which it hasn't done before. i think i just found my favourite pack today. i put the 2500fp and 2200 revs on aswell for a comparison and they both cope fine but the 3200 is nice in 6s guise and you get a good headspeed, still not 4200 good but then this is lighter and we managed to get the weight higher up which has helped no end.
my 15t pinion never turned up so i haven't been able to try the 3200/4200 5s options yet. i would expect the 3200 and 4200 to outperform the 6s 2200 range but i think perhaps 2500 plus will get the margin back again. it really boils down to what one wants from the heli.
We have the Align 6S 2500, which Trev has flown today, he said it's suprisingly quite good.
Once the packs are run in we can log them and really see what's going off on the headspeed front. All I can say at the moment is that 6S 3200 was good and 5S 4200 was also very good. I'd probably be happy flying either.
