        • I have a set of those coming, plus SABs, plus we already ran the Align white 425s. Will let you know which seems to work best.

            • Adie very kindly let me rehost his video for him in higher quality. It's still not fantastic quality but the camera used had interlaced the picture very badly so I had to do a fair bit of reconstruction. However, it is far better than the youtube version.

I also added some titles to show equipment used.

              • well i was determined to have a quick hover, bit of a waggy tail but nothing thats not easy to sort, running it on 2 3s packs for now..

Glad i have actually got it off the ground, and it seems a powerful little bugger

                Just need better weather

                • Revo 3200,s

Ok dokey..just ran 3 flights with diff packs..TP2170, Revo 3200 & Revo 42's. Weather here is very cold..zero deg 5-10mph breeze so not the best. We already know how the 42's have to be fitted/perform etc as we do with the smaller packs so will skip to the Revo 3200 that arrived today.

I got 2x Revo 3S 3200 20c's today. The 3200's are roughly a little over 100g's lighter than the 4200's. But, I just could not get the canopy to fit over them properly (I sat both packs on the top tray..)
Oh so very very close. I do think if I stagger the packs I may just manage but it will be later tonight before I can get a good look.

For flying since the packs themselves are secured I just hooked the canopy under the battery which worked fine for a flight-test.

The C&G was just a shade forward but could go either way depending on exact battery placement but canopy fit will likely mean a touch nose heavy. (9257 on the tail)

In flight the 4200's still def have more urge and the H/S difference is audably higher. Again on the 32's H/S was up on the 2170's I have although not so obvious. The 32's flew the heli very well and overall it felt nicely balanced..in fact very like a hot 50 3D nitro. The lighter 2200-2500 packs do still offer superior agility though at the expense of power/duration/H/S retention under load..with the 42's its powerfull but a bit lardy in flight and carries a lot of momentium but it carries the weight well.

Please bear in mind this was the 32's first cycle so there may well be more to come..6mins of med 3D took me to 33% on the cellpro and Capacity replaced was 2561Mha.. (correction see post below 2281Mha)

So approx 6mins safe flying time. The heli def flew lighter in the air than with the 4200's but do lack the raw grunt the 42's give. H/S retention was better than the small packs as expected. I'm running the Align carbons at the mo, so might switch to the Sabs to see what like.

                  GTG this now..cheers Brian

                  • for goodness sake, what does it take to get the damn HS of the 4200's on this thing.

if it's that close i'm sure moving the canopy posts up a little would fix the issue until the smaller 3300mah packs are here. those are a little smaller all round from what i gather.

good info anyways mate, should get the canopy on somehow if it's that close.

                    cheers

                    • Well just finished charging the 2nd pack and it took less Mha to fully charge so I re-checked my figures for pack 1...

I had miss-counted the first figure in the above post.

I had to disconnect the charger twice part way through the charge. thats my excuse anyway

I really need to get a note pad instead of a end of an old blade spindle packet (thats another story though )

.. It actually took 2281Mha and 2292Mha respectively.

One thing I did observe between the packs is the wire dia is considerably heavier on the 4200 packs?..but I cant really see this being a bottle neck? For the resistance to go up things would have to get hot? Right???

                        • Just in case its of interest that means for my current style of flying with the 500 which is fairly lazy Mixed 3D and a bit of farting around at the mo I'm pulling around 380Mha per min. I would expect this to increase a little as I get it dialled in and become more familiar with the model/settings/batteries I'm using..+ I don't want to dork it just yet

On the charge front,i did 3.5 mins total of hovering about with the 12 tooth pinion running Electrolite 3s 2200`s and they took 998mah and 1020mah

                            • Out of interest, is anyone flying the 500 on 35MHz ?

Hearing about these reset problems with the Spektrum receivers doesn't really make me want to switch over just yet.

                              Cheers

                              • the reset problems are probably a lot less likely to happen than a glitch with 35mhz, i wouldn't let that alone stop you from changing. i wouldn't fly ANY and i mean ANY electric heli on 35mhz anymore.

                                cheers
