  • ok guys, i just grabbed a quick flight with the 2200 revo and the FP2500 as thats really the main pack sizes for me at the moment. for once there was zero wind and i purposely left the heli untrimmed and left the balance do the work.

the FP2500 is the best pack i have flown in the heli, it is the ONLY pack that will do and sustained tic tocs, 4 pointers and anything sideways without falling out the sky or losing that little bit of punch with the headspeed dropping off. the 2200's are close though but the 2500's have it for now. so yet again to me, 2500-3000 ish is where we need to be. the revo was 2 cycles old and the flightpower first flights. i only flew 3.30 with each of them at 100% throttle curve. they are on charge now.

    edit- FP2500 took 1.4amps after 3.30mins
    cheers

    • Trev was just round today and we checked balance on his heli using the hold it up by the head method and see if the tail or nose (spins) drops.

With 2200s it's significantly tail heavy. With 4200s it's very slightly nose heavy but almost (but not quite) at a balance. Based on comparing the two the 4200s would fly better as the 2200s were a lot tail heavy. This is just from a balance perspective, not considering weight or power.

We also did some all up weight comparisons:

      4200s : 2.041 kg
      2200s : 1.853 kg

      Pack weights on their own:

      2200s : 381g
      4200s : 569g

Will do more tests like this when the 2700s and 3000s are ready.

Agree, the FP 2500 looks like an ideal size, just a real shame that FP can't make a pack that lasts.

        • thomas, i have no interest in how long this pack lasts. i will sell it as soon as mike gets the revos hooked up. only reason i have them was my LHS had them in and i couldn't resist them for sake of getting the ball rolling.

          cheers

          • I do, I invested quite a lot in 600 packs which let me down.

I'm thinking of trying the 3200 revos as I think they'd be ideal as long as they fit under the canopy, I was hoping to use my 2100 but they are too light.

              • Yes Ash...Is there much room up front for jiggling the smaller packs around?

Thomas remember... Trev has the big servo on the tail so don't despair to soon... you may also be able to jiggle the equipment around a bit to help with C&G but dammit I'm still waiting for mine to arrive so cant tell you first hand.

                • there is plenty of room but not enough to make a significant difference to the cg of the heli using smaller packs, would need to stick about 5" out the front.

the flightpower pack is the longest that could be used under the battery tray as the pinion is very close to the pack and the pack is hard against the canopy.

                  cheers

                  • Just put a 3s 3200 on top of a small 3s to see, it looks tight but think it will work.

                    • Trev and Ashley are overweight guys no need for a fullsize servo. There does not appear to any problem this end with the 9257 with the SPARTAN DS760 Gyro.

                      • that's your choice, as we've said, the 9257 will give adequate performance for most people's needs, a std servo will perform better.
The point was to highlight the model will easily take either. If you want a lightweight heli Stu then that's your choice....obviously you are a lightweight.

We didn't highlight any problem, we just said the std servo performs better, which it does.

                        • Exactly put Ash which is why I have ordered the 9257 rather than a standard size as I don't require the extra accuracy that yourself and Trev require. This is why the differing info is good because you can make an informed decision based on your own requirements/needs.

                          • after listening to the conversation, Ive gone for 9257 as well. any need for something with the extra acuracy is going to be a little way off in the future.
