Didn't plan to do it, was just flying a normal everyday routine. I never aim to destroy someones heli unless they ask me to...

I took the 500 out today in 30mph winds and it handled it very well. I thought it'd be taken away by the wind but it held firm and tracked fairly good considering it was that windy.

Ain't nobody gonna be getting up my arse, that hole's an exit only hole...

The only person who's opinion I value and trust is Ash since he's the only logical and completely unbiased person that I know...Therefore Ade won't be getting a go on mine...

            • i still odnt understand what the problem is with letting someone outside of base camp align having a fly back to back with the different packs? the opinion is not to be how does it fly, but how does it compare on the different packs. And as for not meaning to, from what i understand and what you told me at the 3d champs, you did a move that you KNEW would cause a problem, so whats the problem here?

As for you Chris, you seem to latch on to what ever is in fashion and push it to the hilt, be it knights, aligns (be it 600e, then 600n, now it will soon be the 500), electrolite were the worst packs ever according to you not so long ago, and now they are brilliant. if thats your game then fair enough, but dont expect for your opinion to be considered as valid or unbiased.

              • jamie, am i not outside align base camp and flying packs back to back or what?

stu and barney will either fly their own or more likely my heli on sunday so more are coming.

                cheers

                • I am also not in Align base camp, otherwise I'd be comparing Align packs would I not?
For that matter what the hell has Align got to do with packs from Revolution?

I think paranoia is setting in.

Edit Just noticed the price on those packs Paul
I know Mike will have to add a bit for the shipping etc but they are only £45
Add say £10 shipping & it's still fairly reasonable so a 6s pack could well come in under £100.

                        Keeping it on topic

The early Electrolites did indeed have an issue with puffing and i think a fair few people had it happen to them,so compared to my Revos they were not any good..

The newer Electrolites appear to be much better,i bought one a while ago from the LHS as it was urgently needed and it surprised me,recently i purchased a second

Electrolite have a couple of higher capacity 3s packs, one being a 2600 which may be too long for the 500,and a 3300 one which in theory should fit..

Hopefully some decent capacity 3s Lipos will appear soon from various manufacturers

At this moment they would be a second choice from the Revos though in a 500 size heli mainly due to Mikes backup and up front advice, from my limited experience though, the Electrolites appear to be better than they were and on a par with the Revos, but will they last?

Mike knows all about them as he did a lot of the work to test various versions of this cell before it became a retail product. Having discussed it with him we think it may be too heavy for a 6S pack but a 5S 3200 would be interesting. Trev and I may have a look at a 5S version once the 6S debate is done and dusted.

It's a bit longer than the 2200 and 4200s so we aren't sure how well it will fit either.

                          • thats the size of the fp pack, it will fit under the hood fine i would think. the weight is about the mark. i guessed 450> would be about right. so it's a little more than 500 all up. i guess we will need to wait on the 2700 packs.

                            cheers

                            • Going the 5S route currently has a wider choice of suitable cell sizes available, but untill we see more people try it, it's an unknown quantity as to whether it offers the outright performance the 6S configuration can provide.

There are some benifits but also drawbacks..larger cell size means it's less stressed and will hold it's C rating better and likely give more cycles. I'll leave it to someone better informed on the v/Amp/heat issue to come frorward...

Mike could supply you the Kokam 3200 2S and a 3200 3S off the shelf? That comes in at 448g Not sure about fitting them in?

BTW I'm estimating the Revo 4200 to be 584g?

All the main players have something around 3200 coming in just over 500g for the 6S or 2x3S .
There is definetely a bit of a hole in the market between 2200-3200..

                              The 2500 Evo 25C = 418g. Maxamps 2500 = 416g. Kongpowers 3000 6S =443g

MaxAmps High Voltage 3100 20 215 $98.99 14.4 31.3 93 38 30 PolyQuest http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-3100HV-111-Pack.htm This would be a good pack size if it works to spec an would actually fit physically which is not dissimiliar to the one Paul mentions above...not a lot between them.

NOTE:- Even the same manufacturer gives a different weight for 6S Vs 2x 3S..FP list there Evo 25 3S as being 280g but the 6S comes in at 515g! Also I wouldn't be surprised if the manufactures weights are measured in different ways..so treat with a pinch of salt.

                              cheers Brian
