Sorry if this has been covered before guys..
I'm new to FBL and just reading up on it all. I don't have a FBL heli yet, but I will soon. . It seemed there were several FBL systems about - VBARR, BEASTX, and the others. Seems like VBAR is reckoned to be the best, BEASTX is good, and the others need discussion...
But now I find Spektrum have a FBL controller called AR7200BX BEASTX...
So what is going on??? is BEASTX an acronym for a type of technology? Or have Spektrum nicked the name from someone else?
Just confused, when I see people recommending BEASTX, what exactly they are referring to? The orange BEASTX, or Spektrum's version?
Thanks all, hope I'm not being too daft here

The Specktrum receiver with BX on the end has a BeastX unit built in, so it's a BeastX and a Spektrum receiver all in one.

My only foray into fbl has been with Futaba, and it just works. No fuss, no surprises, no tipping over on the ground, endlessly adjustable, is just as comfortable with nitros as with electric helis, autos without any drama right down to final low headspeeds and onto the ground, has a built in governor and limiter as well and no laptop needed at the field, to name but a few advantages. They are about the same price as the vBar full system I think, or there abouts. Well worth a look.

As Steve said, The original BeastX is just a flybar less unit, no receiver.

The AR7200BX is a receiver that has BeastX built into it.

The AR7200BX is a great unit, saves hell of a lot of space on the heli, I use it on my 450 with no problems

The only thing with the AR7200BX unit is that it can't be updated in the same way as the normal Bx unit can. So as long as your happy with the firmware that's on the unit (as most people seem to be) then that's fine. Also, this can only be used if you have Spektrum radio gear of course.

Cheers guys, thanks for the explanations.
I'll be wanting to use my DX8, so I'll do some more researching before spending money (that will make a change!)

The AR7200BX flies great without much tweaking at all on anything 500 size+ . I didn't like it that much on the 450 - but that may have been the DFC head. Maybe wait a few days for the MSH Brain to come out first - that is a similar price to the BX and has a bailout function etc.
