  • Stiction on DX7

I find the throttle feels a bit 'sticky' Not smooth. Heard this is called stiction? Any remedies?

Are you sure it still hasn't got the ratchet fitted? (feels rough and notchy) if so open the back up and remove it. If its just stiff open the back up and there is a little adjuster screw

No ratchet. Just feels a bit jerky. It doesn't effect the way I fly as such but would prefer it not to be sticky.

Could be tension adjustment. Mine has a little bit I got used to it. Reason being, if there's too little friction I find I end up moving the throttle when I just want to move the rudder. I adjusted mine for best trade-off.

In that case just lift the back off and you will be able to identify the adjuster easily enough. maybe a spot of silicon grease would help aswell

I had a bit of resistance lately at the top of the travel, but seems to have gone away.

Throttle dose not have a tension spring for up and down? So how can I adjust it? Grease?

Like Boggy said there is a screw for adjusting the tension on the throttle of a DX7, i had to do mine when i got it (2nd hand) as it was far too slack for me to use

It may be just some grit or gunk that has got in there and built up over time

I'd take a look at cleaning and applying new grease on the friction plate (make sure you use lithium plastic safe grease , and not too much), if not possibly the bushings have seen better days, the DX7 has a few bushings as well as bearings. You can order bearings to replace these but it's a fair job to perform.

I found that on my DX7 the throttle was still a bit sticky, even slackened off as far as it would go.

I gently bent the metal strip, so it could be slackened off more.

No such problem with the DX8. [Presumably the DX7S would be fine, too.]
