  • Vbar - I can see what all the fuss is about! :)

OK so I maidened my MSH Protos today. Here's the setup:

    Protos Carbon
    Vbar Black 5.3 pro
    JR PS 3717HV Servos Cyclic
    MKS BLS 990 Tail
    MSH Scorpion motor
    HW Platinum 60A ESC

Anyway at first I had a few issues - there was quite a strong back left drift that neither the swash trim in the software, autotrim, or adjustment of the links seemed to fix. I got a bit impatient and just added some normal tx trim and now it hovers reallu steady - piros are a bit inconsistent due to this but completely bearable.

Also occasionally after unplugging from the laptop one of the servos would act strange until I cycled the power.

This thing flies just like the sim - tictocks are almost as easy as on my 600, rainbows are so smooth and predictable and I did my first piro flips too - quite sloppy but hopefully they'll improve with some practice .

I will try and get a video next time I fly, but in short this is one of the most enjoyable helis I've had.

Cool, not sure you want to be adding trim. Usually that's a no no on the Tx with FBL systems. I would want to get to the bottom of that issue personally, just go over the setup step by step. It is a great system and I love setting them up as it's so easy.

Something isnt right, check for vibrations.

The tail is THE best one out there, so if that isnt consistent either, there is something wrong.

The tail isn't inconsistant - just the heli wobbles a bit as you piro which I am pretty sure is down to the TX trim as it was working fine before I trimmed it.

I will try an autotrim flight on a day with no wind and see if that eliminates the need for trim.

Oh and the peak vibrations were 2600 I think if that means anything.

if you setup with swash leveler, i have never done auto trim flight not been needed, and should have no wind anyway, so not really worth doing at the moment.

I don't have a swash leveler for the 500 but I eyeballed it. I didn't really understand why even when I changed the trim in the software so that the swash was visibly tilted forward it still wanted to tilt backwards.

I did do an autotrim flight but it didn't seem to help. I will try again on tuesday when the wind is meant to be gone

you should have a leveler its well worth it to get the extra nice stable flight and quickly, but if not use a pitch gauge and go around every 90 degrees at midstick with the intention of 0degree pitch 100% of the time but ensure your on level ground or if your useing digital pitch gauge re calibrate at every 90 degrees.

But yes the Vbar's are so nice :-)
