  • Neon Rotors, give the kid a break

Look, I have said a couple of things on his previous threads, and yes, maybe out of place!

His latest thread went off on a tangent of people having a go,

What the kid needs is advice, and possibly instruction.

He is new, how is he truly to know that giving his heli a little hover inside is wrong? I did it in the garage. I don't think it helps by turning his threads into a slating/sarcasm war.

This is my opinion, other may vary, but give him a break.

Ross, use your head matey, hover outside, although you hovering in your bedroom looked pretty stable. Get it outside, much more fun.

    Cheers
    Kev

Got to be honest here, I'm not even remotely his biggest fan and for much of the time this guys threads have made my teeth itch and yes flying a 400 in your tiny bedroom is a daft thing to do but his attitude has taken quite a turn recently. The problem with this place can be that it's one rule for some people and another for others. There's plenty of daft videos that float around, some even get a round of laughs. To play devils advocate here, how many of us would've made jokey replies had Neon Rotors been rolling around an MCPX? ;-)

For what it's worth, his hovering is pretty solid, far better than a lot of videos I've seen on here that people have rallied around with cheers.

You've given him a free helicopter, now let's give him some free advice. Telling him a 400 indoors is daft is fine, because it bloody well is, but a 2 page pile on is a bit intense.

If I was a mod I'd just delete all the negative posts. Probably not the best approach, but theres far too much negativity directed at him, and all thats going to do is make him leave the forum. Then people will say "Hey you remember that kid we gave a heli to that disappeared?"

IMO Ross theres nothing wrong with what you've been doing. We ALL know flying a 400 in the house isnt wise. I just hope you've got the sense to spot the trolls a mile off and not take everything they say to heart.

Get outside and enjoy your heli and stop sitting on here letting the ****** have a go at you!

Dont let the man get you down!

p.s, PLEASE nobody post back about how you shouldnt fly inside. we all know that!

Biffa, feel free to take notes on these posts if you like, you can quote me in your Heli-forum log Dont forget the Spain game!

Couldn't have put it better myself, was just going to start a similar thread.

To all the 'you don't want to do that' brigade, you need to get out more (if it's safe enough). If we all went down the 'what if a link breaks or a blade comes loose' road we'd never get off the frigging ground at all!! He didn't lose an eye or kill his cat so lets just move on! The first posts after the video were all that was needed, a couple of friendly warnings to fly outside not the barrage of abuse.

As said above Ross needs advice not constant critisism. I doubt there's many of us who can say we haven't had a cheeky spool up of our new heli in the lounge when the missus is shopping!

Without the help and encouragement of this forum I would not have made the progress I have since January. I just wonder where all the good advice has gone, seems to have been replaced by a load of whingeing stone throwing buggers who live in glass houses.

I hovered my Trex indoors AND i posted vids of it too (in a thread the other day). Would i do it again.....i do with the Gaui in a much smaller space than Ross hovered the 400. Me i don't care that he hovered indoors, there was no one to cause harm to except himself & i'm sure he was 500% aware of that possibility. I'm not saying by any means thaat he should continue doing it but it was only a small test.

I don't want this thread to go into 'to all those people' 'those that said' sort of thread, I was just concerned, without a little bit of guidance, the young lad will be another flyer that has been helped, heli wise, from the forum (so to speak) but hasn't had the follow up support from us.

                      Ross

Do not let the negatives get to you some on here are borne with a deeply embedded Victor Meldrew chip and are incapable of encouragement or support to help you move forward in your flying. Stating the obvious on safety and constantly going on about it to me is tant amount to online bully boy tatics and I'm not going to have a discussion with another parent on how his son is being harrassed online by grown men who should know better.

                      Some suggestions.

                      1. Find some local flyers
                      2. Hover in your garden - pls stating the obvious I know. Whilst I have to say you had a good hovering control and learning on a small heli will give you a jump in your learning as you move up in size.
                      3. If you can't find local flyers - try and have a parent/friend or adult with you in the garden when flying but only hovering and learn some hovering squares.
                      4. If your wishing to fly in public land or private land get permission and insurance.

People if you can't say anything constructive to help support the lad and encourage him then play elsewhere. I've said it before - we need to better 'Teachers' NOT Preachers!!

Please remember the Broadcast Act of 1990 has teeth.

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience is gained from bad judgement. The one thing neon has managed to do is, to show us all that he CAN actually fly after all.

In the beginning I was hovering my 250, 450 indoors and hovered a 700 nitro in my garden which is the size of a postage stamp. I actually became a member here because a vid I posted up on another forum got here and everyone was having a go, so I joined and put my hand up. Thing is, you see it everywhere on Youtube. People flying around their backyard and in their streets (in the US mainly) so to a beginner they will copy this sort of flying. I think we need to positively encourage the fella, not berate him and slag him down at every given opportunity like some members on here are doing. To those that do this, have you never made a mistake in judgment? Rhetorical, no yawn worthy reply needed!

So, Neon get it to an open space with no one about and enjoy mate.
