Though that postie must've been strong carrying that.
im not too keen on the ones with out the aero kit, makes them look a little too dull for my liking, a nice car though. I’m looking forward to next year when the new one is released

        • It wasn't the postman and it wasn't today but I thought I had to post to tell you about my new present.

          I bought a Henseleit TDR.

It is a machine that I have admired ever since I first heard of it. About 5 years ago one of our club members, Karl Newton, (Delorado on here if I recall correctly), had one. I liked the way it flew. I liked the quality of the engineering. They were always very expensive and I didn't really ever hold out any hope of obtaining one.

It just so happened, quite out of the blue last Saturday, that my very good friend, Anjki, told me that he had one for sale. He knew that I was interested in them. He had bought it recently and had changed his mind. He fetched it out of his van for me to look at. He asked for a very reasonable price. I bought it there and then and took it home that afternoon.

It may take me a little time to get it into flying condition. I have only just finished rebuilding my Align 700 after a very bad crash a couple of weeks ago. My spares stock is now severely depleted and I will have to sort out some electrics to put on the TDR. I will also dismantle it and check it over. I have had a quick look at the instruction manual. It looks a bit complicated.

I am absolutely delighted with my purchase and I am looking forward to getting it into the air. Again, thank you very much Andy.

          • By coincidence I picked up a TDR recently too. I got mine at Helifest back in June but it took me a few weeks to get it flying again. I really bought it on impulse with the expectation that I'd sell it on, but having flown it i'm super impressed and see myself hanging onto it. It's amazing how well it does on a power system that would hardly be deemed adequate for a 550 these days!

              • The TDR is still a very cool machine. It's amazing to think it has been around 10 years now! I first saw one at an MK flyin, must have been 2010 or 2011 and that was the first time I heard that sound of the blades at a low headspeed. I was curious about the TDR for a number of years and finally got one around about (I think) 2014.

                • Indeed I have always run mine on a Jive 80HV, Align MX750 / 450Kv and it does not feel like it needs any more.

Few bits left left to do but the family can enjoy it now on the road.

                        • Looks very nice MJ. Any significant modernisations or have you kept everything original?

The flush car lift, did you retrofit that in your garage?

                          • There’s not a lot that has been left alone. It’s mostly a new car and if something was available that I perceived was better and useful I changed it.

                            Main tweaks:

Ride height and rebound adjustable suspension,
                            Lowered ride height at front,
                            Reverse camber leaf spring,
                            Trunnionless wishbone conversion,
                            Red poly suspension kit,
                            hard mounted steering rack,
full width rad and electric fan,
3-2-1 ignition, TR5 cam profile, ported, polished, 4-2-1 header ceramic coated, twin stainless exhaust, duplex chain, K&N filters, flame thrower, rebuilt 1500,
                            Rebuilt gearbox with overdrive,
LED lights front with DRL and indicators,
Carbon dashboard, took me a month to template but turned out really nice,
                            Interior re-upholstered,
Body tub basically new was such a rust bucket.

The ride and handling is superb so money well spent imho. Engine early days needs to be run in but pulls low down and easy to
live with not too lumpy. Sounds great so all in all I’m very happy with it. The lights are every bit as good as my modern car. So it’s old but very practical to whizz around in.

                              • A pair of DFC pushrods and some torque tube bearings from Helyshop. The service was outstanding. I wouldn't use any other supplier now.
