  • Homebrew helis!

    Hey,
Some of you may recognise me as the nut who rambles on RR about modifiying helis and such but i have an interesting thought here.
What with the veriety of helicopters out there and the more than extensive array of parts avaliable, why dont we see more people designing their own helicopters?

For a long time now i'v been wanting to strech a raptor but due to time/money issues i'v got many of the parts but never made it round to completing the project, and now in Uni with no opertunity to fly I've been thinking about making my own heli for a while now and am scrawling down ideas here and there. When i have more time i plan to bring a bunch of meterials back with me (scrap aly, raptor and Align 600 parts) and start the initial fabrication of a heli (am snowed under with work at the moment)

What with there being so many people out there who are modifying current production models and such, i'm very supprised to see that there are no discussions on homemade/designed helicopters....

With what we can learn from all the current production helis and all their inivotive quirks i would have to say i cant wait to get down to making one, with a couple of attractive concepts of my own i think it could turn out rather well

So come on people... i know it might take a fair bit of time and effort (i'm frabricating as much as i can by hand... (mmm, hand filing) but just imagine the hours of enjoyable tinkering and satisfaction with the end product
    Why dont we inovate, ourselves!
i'm not waiting for the align 700... gonna make a 680/700 < & lighter than a 50 size (we hope ) with an OS70 for economy

    Best regards

We do, Alexander Rosendene (spl) Father of the Piccolo and then Pixelito
Jan Henseleit designs and makes his own helis
As does Lutz Foker of Roxxter fame
    and Ralf Buknowitz of Mikado

and lest we not forget the man who has had a hand in or come up with the idea first or made that discovery in the 70's Mario (I am a twat) Wedding ring hand man.....
