I still have 2 Sceadu framesets (an SWM and an HPM), a few canopies and at least one, maybe two booms. I had a Sceadu evo 50 that I decided to retire at the end of 2011 because I just had too many .50 nitros going at once and then when I got the SDX airframe all the electrics were swapped over to it. I had bought the 2nd airframe as a spare and because it came with the Delrin gears.

Sooooo, I keep thinking about listing the individual parts on Ebay. If I could get my brother interested in helis I'd build him a Sceadu as they are great stable fliers. I just never got enough cyclic response out of mine to suit me (although I think I probably could now as I have become a more savvy tweaker since then, but as it always happens I have too many other fish to fry).

Just to mention also - to give you an idea of the power of that Scorpion 4035. I have a 4035/450 in a Rave ENV with the Radix FAI 710 blades, I think they're something like 230 grams each, not to mention the disc area compared to 600mm blades, and it swings them at 1900 rpm just effortlessly. That's with a pair of 5000mah packs and I think the total weight is about 5.2kg. It could probably do higher headspeeds than that but 1900 is plenty for my flying at the moment.

Just curious if you have done the stretch on your SDX Johnny and if so how it's working?

I had not flown my converted SDX for several months before today because I got the Beam Avantgarde and have spent most of the flyable days this year with the Beam and the Rave ENV.

Converting the Hirobo was what really inspired me to get the Beam actually. But in the back of my mind I thought what could happen is that I'd start flying the Beam and neglect the Hirobo, so today I brought both of them to the field and I found it very interesting.

What surprised me a bit is how well the Hirobo flies next to the FBL and much lighter Beam. It was quite windy today so I think the extra weight of the Hirobo was an advantage as it was slightly more stable even though the Beam is flybarless.

On my first flight I had pulled down the throttle settings but it felt too low and I bumped them back up just a bit, I don't know what headspeeds I'm getting now but it's not crazy it's pretty conservative. I also tried a pair of TT 620mm blades I just got and they worked so well I just left them on for the day and didn't fly the Radix 600s I have been using.

Anyway, the point being the SDX still lives and holds it's own very well next to one of the 'new kids on the block'. I'm sure the Beam could out perform it for hard 3D running a high headspeed but for smooth 'big air' and just general fun the SDX is still really really good.

          Hi Sheryl
Sorry for the delay with responding. Havent done much to be fair.Thought i had stumbled onto a winner in the Alees Rush 750 tailboom, right dia etc.Turns out its only a 700 and have heard nothing about the stretch kit they were promising, allowing longer blades. Kind of lost my mojo at the moment, very unhappy at work and its kind of rubbing off in other areas of my life too. BUT, good news is i have got my arse in gear and have an interview tomorrow. No point dwelling on it, got to get out the rut and do something about it, hahaha

I can identify regarding losing the mojo. I got so down over the winter and then it just dragged on and on. I went for over a month without flying at one point. I like my job but I don't make enough money and need to get myself motivated to get some other biz projects moving. Lately I am jazzed about the idea of getting back into my Dover flat, getting the space and the change of scenery and splitting my time between here and there. It's going to cost me a little money but will be well worth it to have more of my own space again.
