I bought a HK Flew it twice, Hated it and the build quality, Then Bought a 450Pro from Helisfromdevon and the difference was like Day and Night

          Yep second hand align.

I had a clone and the ESC was crap, the screws were terrible, the main shaft was pre-bent (Although Align also managed that with my 600!). And the one I had was supposed to be a decent clone as well.

By the time you have bought decent blades, main shafts, canopy etc for your clone you will have spent around £150 - which could have comfortably got you a 450 sev2 / sport.

If you save for a bit longer also look into something like the blade 450x as it's meant to be really easy to repair and looks like great value.

I personally would not buy any heli second hand, you have no idea how many times it has hit the deck even if it was only flown by a little old lady on sundays......

Do the sums, A HK 450 pro kit, servos, ESC, Gyro and you will be close to (or more than) a Blade 450 3D. And the Blade is BNF straight out the box.

That is the best comparison as both the HK450 Pro belt drive and the Blade 450 3D are flybared.

oh god here we go again.........

I'll put on my flameproof coat once again and say this:

The HK 450 is ok, you pay your money and you takes yer choc-ice. it isn't up to align standards by any stretch of thie imagination; however, it will fly out of the box, the screws arent that bad providing care is taken, and the composite blades will hard 3D. even the skids will stand a knock and the main gear may well wobble a little but I'm still using it and it's fine.

If anyone wants to dispute that it will fly well I have shown that this is true and will do so again if required.

I think a lot of the adverse comments to the HK come from people who haven't had but just prefer to react to hear-say and supposition based upon god-knows-who's opinion and probably some time ago.

HK quality is considerably better than it was, this is again unquestionable. My opinion would be get the 450-GT as an entry level, fly and learn on it, put it back together for relatively small cost when the inevitable creash happens. buy something better when you aren't going to wreck it every outing.

and +1 on the S/H heli - ok if you know what youre doing and looking at, if not it's a recipe for disaster IMHO.

Jamie, PM me if you want a link to my HK450 GT flying on youtube, i wont post it again, it upset too many paople the last time

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I started with a HK450GT and the quality of the carbon was shocking!! The one i bought looked the same as p4ddy's HK250 in his review thread,
I then bought the Gootch 450Pro from HFD and the difference was amazing, This will prob now get me shot down in flames but in my expreience If you had Just the genuine Align Frame sat next to a Gootch Frame i honestly think you would be very hard pushed to tell the difference.

I've actually been toying with getting the Gootch 500TT from HFD for my next step

I went for the HK450SE V2 as opinion favoured belt over TT for ease of repair.

Frames and head come pre assembled but you have to ensure all is locktited. Apart from that, the bits fit together nicely and I've learned a lot that will carry forwards for servicing, repairs or upgrades.

Not got it fitted with electronics yet but others have given decent reviews.

                            It'll be hovering soon.

+1 on helisfromdevon. Steve's service is second to none too. He broke a package up, just to sell me the Tarot USB lead and programmer (I had the FBL unit already),
then, as he was going out for the afternoon, and I was at work, he posted it before I had even paid for it! (he doesn't take card payments). It arrived next morning, free delivery! I have only dealt with him twice before ( only recently come across his site) and he was prepared to do that?? Got to be worth giving him a mention!!

Not had first hand experience of the gootch, but a guy at our club loves his Gootch 450pro.
