spektrum dx7 or spektrum dx7s whats the diffrence??????

as question says whats the diffrence between the 2?

DX7 - old model
DX7S - new model

Note the new model does not have all the capabilities of the old model (no 3 position switches for example so only two flight modes).

I believe the DX7s is also DSMX not DSM2 and perhaps another forum member could advise if this also the variant without the trainer socket.

I have the DX7s. It has a trainer socket and the same basic programming of the DX8, and the same look too. It has telemetry and that awful vibrate function too. No back light or second idle-up mode. Takes it's own battery pack (or lipo) so no AA batteries.

The DX7S is both DSM2 and DSMX, it has a trainer socket, the one without is the DX7se which was a variation on the old DX7 and has nothing to do with the new DX7S.

DX7 is no longer made and you wont find any shop stock anymore. Due to "spektrum new transmitter phobia" the used prices are crazy so better to pay not much more for a DX7s.

In addition to DSMX and DSM2, beleive the DX7S also has a memory card slot to backup or trasfer your model memories to another DX7S (but sadly not a DX8, they weren't that clever, or they deliberately didn't allow that).

Pity the DX7s only has two flight modes though - having said that I only use norm, idle up 2 and hold...

Check the price difference between the DX7S and the DX8 as it might not be much - though I think there are some attractive bundle deals on the 7S, didn't I hear a shop was selling them together with a free copy of phoenix sim?
