  • Finished my 600EFL build today! Few issues on maiden

Well, it took me many many hours but I finished it tonight with all the programming in place also. Took ages and a didn't even eat any proper food until about an hour ago!

Took it out for it's maiden earlier. New lipos too so didn't push it. Came up with a couple of issues unfortunately.

I have noticed a backwards drift in hover. It actually wasn't so bad inverted hovering but definitely in flight it was very obvious and had to correct for it. Also, the motor was very hot after a couple of flights! I've set the heli up in Governor Mode (Autorotation Enabled), timing and everything else is as per the spec on the CC website apart from the PWM is at 8 instead of 12 (it was actually set to Outrunner when i plugged it in!).

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Dani

    That was quick

I finished mine very quickly too - I wished it took me a bit longer tbh.

Anyway I have some forward drift on mine - you could just try turning the elevator swash link up a turn or two.

My motor also comes down hot, although I think its meant to be like that - I've been told it was fibe and I just thought it was unusually hot as smaller helis' motors don't get as hot.

Cheers for that I setup the head geometry as normal, used a swash plate leveller to make it all right. Had to play with the swash/grip linkages a bit to get it to zero pitch. I didn't bother with the washout arms as apparently it's not necessary. Just feels a bit detached really. Also, I got the tail to blowout on a simple tail slide! More HS needed there me thinks. I'm just trying to nurse the packs for a few flights.

Do your servos make a lot of noise? Mine are quite noisy. Almost like there's binding. But I can't see any to be honest.

Yes they are quite noisy. I've just put the ar7200bx on it so will have to redo the setup. Its vibrating quite a bit due to the motor.

Hey Mr Speedy lol nice one mate the lads at my club checked and tested one of our new members new 600EFL's today, the only problem we found was the slot/hole in the boom was miss drill'd causing the tail output shaft to be on the wonk! sorted with a shave off the lil peg on the locating dowel behind the fin jobs a good'un, flew realy nice too. re your drift aft have a look at the CofG if all the mechanics are square and level?

I've just taken the servo link off the elevator and the arm/control rod is very very stiff! Need to have a play with the shims I think and see if I can free it up. Also, the main shaft spacer needs looking at. Minor things i'd say. Need a break though as my head is fried! Hottest days of the year so far over here and I've been sat inside for all of them! Lol

Can't help you with the drift, but my motor also feels hot to touch after a flight, I was concerned at this but a club mates 600 pro is exactly the same too, so I would't worry about that. Same with the servos, they are very "chattery".

I had my 1st flights with mine in the week : my motor was hot but I knew that was going to be the case as I ran it up ( without the main gear fitted) whilst setting up throttle/ ESC /FS /hold and it got warm after 30secs. Set mine in gov low mode 2125 HS flew for 5mins and put back in 1500mah into the packs. I've fitted the nitro auto gear and matching take off gear and slightly( 1mm ) slotted the frames for a better mesh. Align servos are noisy.Paul

Are you using 3gx? That thing is renowned for the backwards drifting and making the heli feel detached from pilot. I had the exact same problem. The only way i solved it was by chucking the 3gx in the bin and put a beastx on it. Then it suddenly turned into the heli everyone said it should be and came alive. Get a Beast

I had backwards drift with my 3gx on the 600efl, it wasn't a setup problem because if was fine for the first minute or so of flight but would then start to drift backwards in the hover. Removed the 3gx and fitted a 7200bx and the heli way transformed and more confidence inspiring.

Running BeastX already gents. There was some binding on the elevator arm control shaft. Took it off, refitted and it seems to be ok. If that doesn't sort it I'll strip it down again and do the geometry again.

I also had the binding. I filed a tiny amount off the bearing block so it just had enough clearance. It is a bit of a design flaw i would say
