I'm pretty good at tail in inverted (occasionally down to about a foot), simply because I prefer to roll inverted rather than flip, flipping into the ground is pretty easy !. Haven't had the balls to try nose in yet . I NEVER use the sim, as I spend my whole working life on a PC, and the last thing I want to do when I get home, is spend more hours on one using a sim, therefore all my inverted was done "cold turkey"

The biggest danger when learning inverted, because I've been there at least twice !, is dumb thumbing it when you go back upright.

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Managed to nail tail in inverted - like Janek, I seem to prefer rolling into it and rolling out in case it gets a bit moody. Just a personal thing I guess.

Whilst practising nose in inverted, I've been trying to use a sort of similar method as 'support the disc' when learning nose in the right way up. When nose in inverted, I imagine a bit of string from the stick tied to the heli - pull the elevator toward you and the heli comes toward you. Push away and the heli goes away.
I still can't get the hang of the reversed aileron though so I'll be keeping nose in inverted on the sim only for a bit longer

I was told this little bit for learning nose-in inverted. 'Lift the wing' i.e. push the stick to the side that is lower. 'Push the tail' i.e. if you can see the tail move the stick to the side you can see. Elevator is the same so no big deal there. Pitch is one you just really have to think about though.

Been trying to learn inverted hover myself for the last few weeks, ive found nose in to be the easiest in relation to what you get the flight the right way up.

nose in the only control that is reversed from a normal nose in hover is your rudder. I was always taught when its facing you you put the stick under the dropping wing/rotor to support it.

I can to high altitude nose in hovers for a fair while now, but as has been said if your nose in the escape plan is full neg and push the stick/heli away from you.

one other thing ive realised recently, get into practice of getting out of inverted moments of TERROR by flipping up and out rather than looping under as you can soon run out of sky without realising it if your concentrating too much. mate of mine nearly came a cropper like that missed the grass by about 6inches
          All the best

            Hi all.

I am doing the very same thing, and can hover low down tail in inverted on the sim continously now (but ask me if I have tried it at the field )

For some reason I get in a real mess switching to nose in inverted ( I found this easier when I started).

I do fly inverted quite a bit at the field now, but really high, and usually enter it by a half loop, then negative pitch to keep it there, pulling back gently to keep a little forward speed on. As soon as I think about turning though, it all goes pear shaped, and I quickly half roll out .

I found the Phoenix hover training a godsend for inverted hovering.

Most over here seem to learn nose in, over the pond they do tail in.
I tried that 2 days ago with my rex 450 and curtans . Was doin a forward flip and in inverted it tiped to the side and i tried the escape plan and wollip (lack of height didn't help).Always do it with hight on your side and practice lots on the sim and once you can hold a steady hover at about 10 to 15 meters up i bring it down in stages till your comfortable . There is nothing that will help more than a lot of practice and a well set up helli

Am I misunderstanding this or what

                Shouldn't it be:
Upright forward right circuit=Forward elevator + Right aileron
Inverted backward right circuit=Forward elevator + Left aileron

Upright backward right circuit=Back elevator + Left aileron

I couldn't get my head round thinking about the controls so just bored the crap out of my self on pheonix for a week, 10 mins max each day and by the 5th day a could do it, i have learnt side on so not sure if thats a good way or not but you have gotta take your hat off to the sim because its just the same with the real model, there is one thing i have to do though when its inverted and thats to keep stabbing the controls even though its in a stable inverted hover just so i dont get disoriantated and dont forget wot stick does wot but thats just my lack of ability, stright up though u need to just stick at the sim on that one move and like i say just 10 or 5 mins a day, i tried the training thingy but it didn't work for me.

The relationship I was on about was rudder to aileron, not so much elevator to aileron, when considering the relationship between what what way to move the sticks ie together/apart or both left/both right, it is the opposite way round to the other way up, the direction of the turn is opposite aswell, but thats really up to the pilot to decide upon, regardless of which way they turn the relationship is either sticks apart/together for inverted forwards, and upright backwards, or sticks both to the left and both to the right for upright forwards, and inverted backwards.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
