  • Gaui 550 Hurricane maiden flight

Maiden flight of my Gaui 550 hurricane

Originally a Gaui 425, riddled with problems so decided to strip down and rebuild it and halfway through I chose to stretch it to a 550

Flew it yesterday and very pleased with the result.....please forgive my flying, only managed to progress from the hover 2 months ago!!

i'd say that was great flying in a confined space if you've only progressed from a hover 2 months ago! I'm a beginner too but in my humble opinion your flying looks much more controlled than mine!

I practiced circuits on phoenix and couple of months ago tried it for real. Take it slow and steady, a bit at a time.
With practice and patience, it'll all come together.

I can honestly say its a HUGE buzz

Nice heli, can I make a suggestion though? Try reducing the travel on the tail servo, it will slow down the rate of turn on the heli and give you more control of the turn. It's what I have done on my trex 500 and my fusion, suits me much better

As it stands I'm away, but if I can I'd like to pop along. Never been to a fly-in yet so shame to miss one close to home

See if you can make it to the fly-in Dave, as it would be nice to see some Gaui's amongst the forest of Aligns that normally appear and despite the 550's having been around for some time they still seem to be quite rare on the circuit.
