Hatori back pressure fitting

Hi guys,
I've got a Hatori 522 in perfect condition, apart from the back pressure threaded hole, which has stripped threads in it, so the fitting no longer grips.
There is still grip lower down, but the supplied fitting only has a fairly short thread on it, so it doesn't reach.

Are longer threaded fittings available?
Are larger diameter fittings available, so that tapping it out to a larger size would allow me to securely fit a larger fitting?

Any pointers to items to buy that can fix this, or ideas on how to fix it as it is would be most welcome!

You could tap it to a larger size and source a larger nipple or as Steve said epoxy it on there.

I spoke with Trevor at Midlands about this and he seemed sure that he didn't have anything suitable... ho hum.

I'm dubious about the epoxy not melting away from the heat though - I hear you when you say you've had good luck with it Steve... I just dunno

Hi rob have also used between the engine and pipe with no problems. But use what ever method makes you comfortable .

I had the same thing happen on my SB-50. I replaced with a slightly bigger fitting and superglued it. No problems so far.

I got more than one when I bought it so it I may have a spare which you are more than welcome to try. I'll dig it out 2morrow.

JB weld can certainly take the heat also..
I have a four stroke plank engine that had a rattly end cone,and that been fixed with JB. It's worked a treat.

I second the Epoxy suitability, but if you're worried, then use JB weld as chugga suggests.
Think I might have one of the longer nipples if you want me to stick it in an envelope...

I had a nipple pop out () on my hatori 522.
I went to retreive my heli after landing and noticed the pressure tube was hanging off and the nipple was missing out of the silencer. I would have expected it to be in the end of the tubing but the tubing was split at the end.
I spotted the nipple in the grass under my heli.
How lucky is that?

If you know the thread on your nipple then it might be possible to helicoil it. Tapping itout bigger sounds like the better move.

I can get you some high temperature epoxy, eccobond286. I could send you a few scrapings up of the two parts if you want.

Ok, well, there's no harm in trying the epoxy route I guess - thinking about it, I have used epoxy to seal the exhaust to the engine previously ( I don't bother at all anymore, but hey ho).

If I can use standard epoxy, then I'm all set - although, Richie, feel free to send that slightly larger nipple my way

Just as an after thought, alot of the tuned pipes that the car and truck boys use don't even have a nipple. The fuel tube is just stuck thru the hole, sounds dodgy but believe me when I used to run trucks I had one just like this and never once had a pressure problem although on a heli it would always be in the back of your mind I spoze.

Oh and you could always fill the hole and tap a fresh one if all else fails.
