  • RX Lipo's - which ones?

Well getting the electrics together for my first 700 heli, have invested in the MKS HV Servo's that were in offer but need to pick a 2S RX pack, what would everyone suggest?

    Cheers

    Dan

Lots to choose from, but the Outrage 2S packs have a good reputation.

Not with me they don't Had to throw 2 Outrage packs away this year, one only a year old.

Thunderpower have been working great for me and not showing any signs of aging yet, still well able to hold voltage nicely under load.

I have a couple of opti 2150's on order, theyre the perfect size, nice and light. Anything much more than that is getting a little heavy for my liking on the new electric's
The MKS servo's are really efficient and dont need much capacity at all. Adam and I were running 1300mA packs on our kasama faifa's to keep the weight down and 2 flights left plenty of safe room using the MKS hbl 950's/980.
The opti 3850's are a little big in my opinion - I went to midland heli's today to get another pack to get me through the weekend, and ended up with a Thunder Power 2600 pack. Very nice battery and a sensible size, but at £37 for an RX i think is a little steep. The opti's are much more affordable in my opinion.

Varied decisions then, I'm no smackdown pilot tbh but would be happy with it lasting 5-6 flights as that would be my day done considering I have the Fusion & Logo ;-)

Can I just ask, is it better to use a lower C rating for Rx packs? Or does it not matter?

I don't have any HV setups at the moment, use normal servos etc but still Flybarless.

I used the Optipower 2S 3650 on the Vibe yesterday, I have 5 flights so close to 50 minuets flying time and checked the capacity this morning to find I had 70% left I changed to Optipower to see how they are! In comparison the old lipo in the vibe was a 2S 2P 3800 from a well known brand, I was getting to under 50% after 5 flights.

How did you check the capacity? If you mean you used one of the voltage based battery checkers then don't depend on that result as leaving the packs to recover overnight then testing voltage is a very poor indicator of actual capacity.

Go by what you have to put back into the pack when you charge it and ideally test the pack under load and see how much you can actually take out before the voltage falls too low.

That way you know the real percentage you are using of the actual useful capacity.

I've just got a pair of 2150 2s Opti's for my 700 to run the same MKS HV Brushless servos. I rekon it should be good for at least 4 flights per pack, but won't know til next weekend as my servos are sitting in the postal system somewhere

The opti 2150's seem to getting a few good mentions, will have to see if I can find them in stock

Can't wait for the kit to come into stock & be delivered but in the meanwhile will get the electronics all read & sorted

Was having a sort through my stuff & found a New Hyperion Life 3800mah battery, could I use this instead or should I just go with the 2S Lipo option?
