  • Trex 500 goes inverted for first time.

    Hi All.
Just needed to share with you one of those special little moments in this sport where you come home feeling like you have made progress.
Could invert on the Sim no problem and with the Mini CP. Weather was good today sun was shinning heli was in good shape so I thought bugger it if I can do it on the other I can do it on this. Flipped it so nose in got into a simi stable hover and woo hoo there she was. Few more times and got a slightly more stable hover for about a minute.

Not sure why it is so much harder to hover inverted. I guess just a new orientation to learn and the mind messing with you.

    Happy days.

    Cheers

WEll done, time to crack open a tinny and pat yourself on the back, before you know it you will be doing inverted laps of the field. By the way when is the sun NOT shining down under?

Good work! Noticed you were doing it nose-in(?)

Try it with the tail in first, you should find that a bit easier

Nice job dude - well done.

Oddly when I started doing inverted I found flipping it to nose in was much better for me. Some folks prefer to roll it into inverted and other prefer to flip so that the heli tail in (like dani_r), you will find the best one for you, just enjoy it!

          Cheers,
          Simon

I learnt nose in inv first as I found it easier to enter it from a loop and just holding with neg pitch at the top of the loop as opposed to rolling sideways into a tail in hover. Each to their own I guess

Either way well done m8 another milestone ;-)

Way to go. Tried flipping my Mcpx for the first time yesterday and broke the tail boom. Might be a while before I try it on my 500, seemed like a simple exercise in Phoenix

                Hi Guys.
                Thanks all for the encouragement.
Just a thought. I fly mode 1, gas peddle on the right. So Left stick for the flip and right stick for the neg pitch. I find it harder to roll on the sim and Mini CP as roll and pitch on the same stick. Maybe something that makes one way easier than others? Or have I got the mode 2 setup wrong??
As for sun in Aus. I am living in China. But yes the sun was shinning through the smog.
Also broke the tail boom on the Mini CP today. Made everyone laugh but oh well. They do that the little buggers. I need to reduce the negative pitch on it as blows the tail out if you go to hard. When inverted and struggling with orientation accidental piros inverted was too much = crash. Oh well 1.5 quid for a new tail boom. HaHa who cares.

                Cheers.

It's totally different on the 500 buddy. It will actually 'flip' whereas, in my experience with the MCPX, it doesn't really flip just loops into inverted. Try doing it with the MCPX on Phoenix then try doing it with the 500 on Phoenix and you'll see the difference

Thanks I'll give that a try, I had been flipping the 500 in Phoenix, not really played much with the mcpx as its to damn small on the screen

I don't think the MCPX in Phoenix flies like the real thing to be honest.
