  • Buying 600 Pro FBL - what extra equipment will I need to buy?

I'm buying a new 600 Pro from Raj soon. I have lipos etc, but I'm wondering what else I will need whilst I'm ordering everything. I prefer to use the BEC Pro like i do on my 500. I don't use a separate lipo pack to power it, just a harness into the lipo.

I believe with the 600 Pro there is space for a separate lipo pack so don't mind getting some since there is space for it compared to the 500.

Can anyone else who has one please advise on what else I'll need?

    Many Thanks

Some magnetic canopy mounts as it will p##s you off with the stock ones. I believe they make these specifically for the trex 600 & Raj has them, I fitted the 700 ones to mine as the 600 ones weren't available at the time.

Zeeflyboy used a hyperion life pack connected straight into the receiver to power the radio, I believe it was the 2100mah. I still use the align regulator on mine and a 2s lipo as I like the on off switch and light display telling me how much capacity is left. The only other upgrade I have is the version 2b tail which is slightly longer than stock and has double the amount of bearings, flys great!

+1 om the mag mounts they are great. I cant remember if the pro comes with two pinion gears, you might want to check. If it does not you might need one with more teeth if you are going to use gov mode.

          +2 on the magnetic mounts.

I had both a hyperion life that I decided against, and then got a voltz 2100mah life pack. It fits perfectly horizontaly on the 'nose' bit of the heli (in front of the FBL controller).

Also maybe ask Raj to swap out the 3GX for something else like a BeastX? I'm very happy with the way the one I got off you flies .

You may also want some shoe-goo to help with the wiring (I found it a pain to wire neatly), and for keeping the wires in the FBL unit.

When you get it make sure the main shaft is 100% straight - mine was pre-bent at the factory, which I believe did not agree with the HC3SX's bail out mode (it was stupid of me to still fly with a slightly bent main shaft!!) and caused a £170 crash.

Finally, when building it make sure not to tighten the metal ball-link on the tail too tightly or it will snap in the collar.

Ask him if the kit has the version b tail hub, the one with shims in, and if it doesn't I would recommend you get him to supply it.

                I'll look into that, thanks

I've never used a regulator but I'll look into it. I will ask Raj about the V2 tail. Is this the V2 'B' tail?

How difficult is it to get the pinion/gear to mesh with a bigger pinion? My friend has one and said you can't up the pinion size because of the fixed motor mount. I thought this was a little odd to be honest.

I think I'll stick with the lipo as I know where I am with those to be honest. I already fly with Beaat X on my other heli. The one I sold you came off my friends Heli. I have already asked Raj and he will be swapping out the 3GX for me

What's the shoe-goo for? I braid my wires on my helis so hopefully that should keep things tidy. I've never used that other stuff before. Thanks for your tips!

Will that be an extra cost?

I think kde do a motor mount for the pro. Im using stock pinion and my max gov speed is ok for now but I I would just like a touch more headspeed.

So you can't change it without the different mount?

Nope, the mesh would be way to tight. The lower bearing would fail in no time at all.

                          Interesting. Thanks for that

What HS are you getting with the stock pinion?

If I were to do the wiring again I wouldn't have braided the wires - it would have probably been neater without. The shoe goo is for fixing the wires to the frame (there is a particular place in front of the motor on mine where the shoe goo stops the wires from slipping into the motor. More importantly, you can use it to 'glue' your wires into the fbl unit so they don't come out in flight.
