  • The websites new look....

    Okay,

I want to re-skin the site...so I thought I can either make up my own design and hit you guy's with it or let some designers who frequent the site come up with some designs and let the members choose the style they prefer then I will create the skin to match the look the members want.

This includes making a new site logo if needs be....

The skin will take time to do as there are loads of templates to modify.

If no-one want to make up a design then that's not a problem as I have a design in mind I just felt that it was unfair to hit you guy's with a new look without getting some input.

The thing about the vbulletin software is that its practically all HTML templates just full of .php variables to suit...the thing for me is any templates on the market really only take the same look and re-colour it which is not what I want.

Keeping images to low sizes and using css is aim, thus keeping site speed good. I've also bought in the same software as another video website similar to youtube and a patch to plug into the forum.

    I'm all ears...
    Cheers

How about adding numbers after the thread title, so you can go directly to the last page?
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

in my opinion ubuntuforums.org is the best vbulletin implementation. Anything that comes to close to this would be cool.

On the main screen if you click on the little arrow next to the last posters name this takes you direct to the very last post.

              Stuart,

Is it possible to improve on perfection?

This forum is a pleasure to use, fast loading and due to the users this site attracts has taught me more about Rc Heli's than anywhere else!

It would be nice to have a majority vote on any new designs and changes to the site.

I agree that images should be kept small as other such sites seem to cram advertising in so much that site speed seems to suffer considerably.

Neat and clean is definitely the way forward

              Cheers Damion

The thing that's bugging me is that Vbulletin doesn't really provide any skins and as such so many forums start to look the same. I've been wanting to get stuck into a new look for sometime, but just never got focused enough. Now I think it's time to start to look at the design and make it really look the part.

But again many just buy a skin in a then tweek it...I prefer a whole new look. But for me less is more....keeping inline with vb using css style format will keep speed high and small minor images for certain buttons and a border or background colour will make a big difference.

I can continue to work on the bolt on elements at the sametime to enhance the features of the site as much as possible.
                Cheers

I like it how it is, but if you want to change it, its up to you, I think the current format works well, everything is clear and easy to get to, the home page gives you all you need, your just bored aren't you??
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                      And a DX8 too

That's a default setting on the web server - session management.
It can be overridden by the web page but for very busy sites it's best not to as it takes up system resources to keep sessions open - only small amounts for each session, but get loads of them at once and it soon mounts up

If you have the login form "remember" you, you should just have to click the login button each time you visit the site to login - no typing required

                          Cheers,

lol....nah just wanting something that's not stock vbulletin....

I have another two vb forum's that I'm admin for, more for the good lady's benefit than mine. But set them up and get a call for help every now and then. But mainly when a tweek is wanted.

I've been working with a well known store for what seems forever on thier site and its about to go-live very soon and very long overdue. so that's that one done now.

I've built my site for the cameraship and training services just minor tweaks needed, so I find myself with a little time on my hands and with the video software bought in I'd rather skin it all in one go than jump around.

I'm happy to buy in a skin from vbskinworks.....I looked at it a couple of months ago and was thinking of this one.
