  • Discharging as NiMH for disposal?

    Guys,

I want to discharge a dead lipo (2nd cell wont hold charge) for disposal.

Obviously the charger wont discharge a LiPo lower than 3v. I can go down to 0.1v on a NiMH program though; before salt bathing and throwing away.

Is it safe to discharge it this way?

    Cheers

For a 3S pack get a 12volt car bulb and wire that across the leads. When the battery is completely flat strip back the leads and twist them together. For a 6S pack get two bulbs and wire in series.

I've found the best method is to use the largest rock you can find in your garden & proceed to beat the lipo to death.

A metal spike makes for some fun as well. On another forum a guy said take an axe to it but the moderators removed his post. lol.

..just chuck it straight into a bucket of salty water for a couple of weeks - easiest.

More fun to trash it though or if you like to live on the edge than post it to an embassy....
