  • Powering a RX with just a LIPO ??

I'm going to try some slope soaring, so my glider doesn't have a motor.

I need to power the RX with just a battery as I don't need an ESC in the model.

Can I use a Lipo to power the RX, i have a spare 2s 500mah lipo lying around that i may use, but how do i go about rewiring to use it to plug straight into the RX, or can i not do this, if so, why ?

    Thank

    Sam

Depends what RX, just search out the specs. As long as it states over 7.4v operation it'll be fine.

But how do I plug it into the RX ?? The battery is a standard JST plug, and the RX uses 3 pins. ??

BTW, it's a cheapy FMS XY600 rx I had lying around.

I can't find much specs on the RX, whats the chances of a 7.4v being okay ??

      Cheers

You'll have to make a cable to allow it to connect to the RX.

Can't say if it'll be ok with that RX, you'll need to do some googlin'

Youll probably fry your servis if they Arent high voltage, i suggest you buy a cheap regulator

Just buy a cheap nimhnicd RX pack as like Chris has said your servos might not be upto the job but your rx might be ... not worth plugging it all in and it going pop ....and a nimh/nicd pack will be cheaper than buying a reg and you wont see benefits from running a glider on 6 volt tbh

As said, just stick to a old fashioned 4.8v Rx NiMH pack. really no point in the added weight of a regulator. You'd need HV Rx and servos to take unregulated lipo voltage, which again, isn't really needed in a glider.

Okay so all that's needed is a nimh battery and plug that into the rx and all should be fine.

Or can I just plug my esc in and plug a lipo into that, but not connect a motor to the esc, will that still be okay ?

                Thanks

Yep, you can do that, same as you would when setting up a heli with the motor disconnected. Simples.
