  • is a castle bec 10a sufficient ?

i have two heli's one is a hk600gt and that has a castle hv80 and currently a CC BEC pro (20a) as anything less and it browns out.

i have just got another castle hv80 which i want to put on my trex 550E to replace the standard 70a align esc. i have heard that the standard one only puts out 6A so i am wondering will the Castle BEC 10A one work or might it brown out .

both heli's have 3 align ds610's and a ds650 tail. both have gp780 gyro's. the HK has a 6channel spektrum reciever and the trex has a 7 channel.

what do other 550e users run with regards to a BEC ?

I used one on mine for two flights and it was ok but I wouldn't trust it. Go with the cc bec pro again

i thought i would try it without soldering it all up and the results i just had were very poor indeed, any collective movement with a tail movement and it failed. Also i just did a firmware update on it and still didn't have enough power to move all 4 servo's

I am now wondering what would the CC BEC 10A power ????

Well mine at the time was flybarred, if yours is flybarless the I can certainly understand it not having enough. Fbl is power hungry

I've got a BEC Pro v2 on my 700e and 550e and both have been faultless!

no mine is a version 1 with flybar and the standard gp780 gyro. i bought it originally for my HK600gt but it wouldnt power that, now i just tried it on the 550e and it won't power that either. i think it might just about work on a 450 size ? i feel it was £21 wasted as i won't get to use it

i'd feel bad selling it now as i have just slagged it off. its probably good for some heli's just don't know which ones

The little 10a one is perfect for 450 flybarless models

You won't regret it - the Bec Pro has worked faultlessly for me on a flybarless 550 heli. The price is pretty competitive too compared to some of the competition.
