  • Choices - i cannot decide

I've spent the past 5 days almost constantly confused as to which 50 size heli to get....

Its basically down to 3 ... all electric, all with 12S setup, considering 3xMKS BLS950 and MKS BLS980 and vbar fbl controller and all with about a 550kv motor, scorpion HV ESC ...

Which frame i cannot decide .... all the 3 tend to hover around the £1200-1300 mark complete
    Compass 6HV
    Outrage Fusion 50
    Ely.q Vision50

They're all no doubt gonna be a stunning piece of kit .... any one got any strong views .... i was leaning towards the Fusion until Fast-lad popped up with the Ely.q which also looks pretty stunning ... but the compass seems pretty hot too

    Help!!!!

PS... one other question .... the price difference aside ... mini vbar vs full size? I'm leaning towards full ...

    Thanks all
    Jamie

Hi Jamie, I've just gone through a similar process deciding on a 700 size heli and I ended up going for the Compass 7HV - the owner feedback is exceptional, parts availability and prices are good and Steve/Julie at Weston offer a great personal service. All this combined swayed me from my close second choice of a SAB Goblin.

Regarding your electrical choices, I think you have good taste! I've just bought the same servo set from Andy at MKS and have the same on my Raptor E550 already and am well chuffed with them - very quiet and fast servos. I've also gone for a VBar - my understanding is that the main difference between them is that the full size VBar is for nitro and electric, whereas the mini VBar is for electric only. On this basis I have gone for a mini VBar as I only fly electric like you intend to and saved a few quid in the process.

I use an AR7200BX on my 450 and don't seem to have problems with wire transmitted vibes .... just didn't know if a larger heli would suffer same ... The price difference is only £30 which seems almost trivial when dropping 4 figures .... i was considering getting the 'pro' software update too for the vibe analysis ... although i suppose that can wait until i see whether or not i have an issue worth investigating

I would have to say 6HV. Compass is not popular in the UK despite the fact that the 6HV is an awsome machine with an excellent motor and drive train. Its limited popularity also means you will get something which is going to be slightly unique.

I dont have a 6HV yet (will be my next heli though) but I do have an Atom 500, which is the little brother of the 6HV, and I love it . You also get a FBL head, without swash driver, that has been designed well and has been in the field for quite a while and shown itself to be reliable. Furthermore it has an excellent belt drive, uses mod1 gears and I have not read any reports of teeth stripping either.

The one thing to be aware of though is it is vertically, a very compact model. This makes for a model with a very good CG but it does result in a comparatively small canopy (about the same height as a Trex 500). I have read some people say it does effect visibility and others say that its not an issue so I guess I will have to wait till I get one to find out for myself.

              I love my fusion.
I had an elyq vision50 nitro for a short time. It flew fantastic as far as I could tell but after 4-6 flights something always needed tweaking.
              Never owned a compass Heli.
