Some people like lipos because they don't tend to self discharge. The dowside is the care you have to take with lipos. The new breed of Eneloop NiMh cells from Sanyo are very good and will be a direct replacement for what is supplied with your TX.They can also be safely charged with the charger that came with your TX.

Unless you can change it the low voltage alarm in your tx will not work with a lipo. The voltage regulator in your tx will have to work harder reducing the voltage of the lipo as it is higher than the NiMh battery in there now.

As to what you should do that is your call.

One other thing to dispell the hype a 2000mAh NiMh pack will last just as long as a 2000mAh lipo under continuous use in your TX.

Neither battery will last forever without charging!

Brin I don't think it is luck it is down to the tolerences of the components. If they chose well all is fine, which it looks like is the case with the DX7.

hi mate.I think the the old battery in mine must have been on its way out as i used to charge it every week,i only charge the lipo every third week so for some reason it does seem to last longer than the nimh packs and i get the low voltage warning in good time as well.

That wasn't a link Andy put in, it is one of those rather irritating adverts the site has been adding for some time now.

Those things annoy me more than any other ad on the site as they give the impression that the poster has endorsed the site by adding the link when in fact they did nothing of the kind.

For the DX7 a Li-Fe pack would be a better choice, if you use a Li-Po the voltage will be too high and most likely will cause damage. A 3S Li-Fe pack around 2000mAh is a good choice.

The main advantage of Li-Fe is the capacity and the very low self discharge rates, you're talking many, many hours (if not weeks) before charging.
