  • swashplate moves mid flight, is my tx faulty

    hi all
today at the field mid flight my 700e started to fly very strange so i landed it, on further inspection the swash was leaning to the right so disconected it and restarted, the swash was perfectly leval before takeoff but yet again mid flight same thing happened so landed and yep the swash leaning to the right again, so i thought i would fly my 550 and would you believe it same problem, so we did a bit of playing around on the ground with both helis and both of them are fine when you connect them yet when you start to stir the sticks the swash will start to lean sometimes left sometimes right and once it went backwards, we then connected them up and just left them there with no stick inputs and after 30- 45 seconds yet again swash starting to lean

both helis are in perfect mechanical order and both running v bar and untill today have been without fault,
i cant see it being either heli as its the same problem on 2 machines so i think it might be my tx, which has also been fine since day 1 but and here it comes it is a dx8,

anyone got any ideas or thought or has anyone had a similar problem, any help gratefully welcomed
    cheers adamf

turn on the dx8 and go to the monitor menu, keep an eye on it for a few mins to check for movement, stir the sticks abit and then let them be and again see if there is any uncommanded inputs, sounds like its the tx

Drop the vbar and get a 3gx mate

(at least then you know itll only ever lean the swash backward. And all of the time, not mid flight. Better the devil you know and all! )

Wasn't there an issue with faulty pot's on the DX8 putting in there own inputs causing an effect similar to trim.

if it is giving input when you only move the base of the stick, not the actual stick then send it to horizon hobbies, this was a reported problem 6 or 7 months ago,as stated above by big-t

i dont think it should matter if its out of warranty or not,i sent mine in for repair after knocking it off a shelf, didnt need a proof of purchase for it,just sent it in with my address on the back of it,they sent it back a couple of days later all fixed up,foc,it only cost me the postage to them, shouldnt think you will have a problem, there aftersales service is second to none

Horizons after sales is excellent as it's a know problem I can't see it being an issue and their turn around is usually pretty fast so you won't be out the air for long. If it's not the problem it eliminates the TX and you know then it's elsewhere but as you say it's happening on more than one Heli the common denominator is the TX.
