I have an iPhone 4 so does the wife, my first iPhone was the 3GS so all notes came to this phone once I set it up, along with all contacts.

But the other day I have all my wife's notes and mine ate gone, google could not get them back either. So was not happy chap, 5 yrs of notes lost never to be found again. This is a windows laptop and using hotmail.

Now the daughter as just got a 3GS and now all my contacts are gone, now this is worse than notes.

When I lost my notes I set up iCloud just on my phone, the wife's is off the daughters is off. I have one email account for find my iPhone so this is on all 3 phones now, is this the problem. If so how do I keep track of all phones if one was to be lost.

I tried restoring my phone to a back up 2 weeks or so ago but this just put back my daughters contacts.

This iPhone was all good till I found these problems, I mean I can plug any phone in and it remembers apps to each phone so what I'm I doing wrong.

Any info now regarding getting contacts back would be fab, and what do I do as regards this not happening again.

How do others get round more then one iPhone per house hold, and find my iPhone.

    Cheers

It sounds like you are using the same name for all three phones on the PC you are backing them up to.

As long as you have a different name for each then you will back them up individually as well.

You can still have one iTunes account on all three if that is what you are aiming for, but you must give them different names if you back up to the same PC.

All phones are called different names, mine was to my laptop so was the wife's, but the daughters was to her laptop.

I never plugged mine in to hers and vise versa.

All phone have the same iTunes account, this is to buy or download apps, also iCloud is on for fine my iPhone.

The only difference is mine was backing up to iCloud, the wife's want I think I clicked iCloud on the daughters but turned off ASAP. As I thought no best not do that as she as her own laptop.

I don't use calendar but I get the wife's inputs for all birthdays, Evan though she never plugs hers into laptop.

It's all very strange now this iPhone game.

Not easy to figure out what you've managed to do, but the most likely possibility is that since you have all three logged into the same iTunes account you may have accidentally sync'd your Daughter's phone to the same iCloud account.

Also remember that you don't have to plug a phone into the computer to sync it so your wife's phone may be using the wireless sync option, also make sure your wife isn't using iClound as well just in case.

Just downloaded a hopefully useful app, called contacts sync.

I don't no what I did or how I messed my contacts up, but if doubt download an app.

My other 2 kids will soon want an iPhone, and no doubt this wi confuse me or iTunes even more, so now my new contacts are on the app.

Something else that caught me out the other day which is worth watching for.

I'd used the same email account on my iPhone since I first had a 3g and I finally had to change it as my office email had moved to a new email host.

I set up the new mail account, deleted the old mail account and all my contacts vanished

What I hadn't noticed was they were all associated with the mail account so when that went, so did they.

A quick restore and everything was back where it belonged. I then used a great little app called ExcelContacts to export all my contacts to Excel, then after deleting the mail account again I re-imported them back into the new account.

I use hotmail so contacts don't go there, I just deleted one phone number from contacts then restored from app, it put it back so that worked.

I then deleted contacts app re downloaded signed in, and then all my 20 new contacts was back, so again that works.

Just got to find and try and build back up as many as I can.
