Impressive flying trev.
I did a few big style rippers today (letting the heli fall out of a stall turn with full rudder, and pulling out low). The gyro tries to hold a constant piro speed as it is falling very fast (from very high in this case).
What I found was as the speed builds up, the piro rate slowed down. No sign of whipping. It just gradually slowed in piro rate. This makes it a bit hard to judge the exit height and direction of the manoevre. I had to pull out sideways sometimes.
The first time noticed it I landed the heli to check ut the tail servo etc as I had never seen the piro slow down before.

I've not seen this flying in 30+mph of wind and piroing in fairly quick forward flight into wind. Probably today it was going faster through the air then I ever did before...

Maybe CSM made the software (560 rev4) so when it finds its hit the stop trying to keep the yaw speed as the tail is going into wind, it remembers the yaw rate and uses that as a maximum for the rest of the revolve - thus eliminating the whipping with the wind, at the expense of a reduced piro rate. Once it stops revolving it goes back to normal.

just a thought. Its possible colin mill did think of that - all the info is there to do it.

Probably on a more modern heli with a very powerful tail it might need to go ridiculously fast to run out of tail pitch. so this is the challenge to trev the piro master. Get that 600 going fast enough to see if the CSM720 backs off the piro rate!
