If you've got room, get some longer bolts and fit a locknut on also...

You go to modelfixings.co.uk and order yourself some aerotight nuts and put them on the end of the bolts. These are reusable and all metal.

surely you can re-tap the thread as well?

What size are you going to tap it to? The holes in the engine crankcase will only take M3 bolts.

On the Hatori pipe it is best to use locking nuts even before the thread is stripped out.

On mine the bolt came slightly loose and the vibration made it destroy the thread.

I would go for longer bolt right through then not use the locking nuts as the nylon may melt under heat. Get some normal nuts with what I call grip washers, then spring washers then put the nut on dam tight. Bugger will never come off. B&Q or rs components will have the pieces.

If you re tap the thread then you would have to drill the hiper holes out to an m4 size ... not a good idea in my mind. Might knacker my engine.Tried the lock nuts with the plastic ring built in and it came loose aswell , might try your one stuartn sounds good with a heap of thread lock fingers crossed

Me I would drill through and use nuts and locking washers

aerotight nuts, selflocking nuts like nyloc, but entirely metal - also from modelfixings I think
However you can usually get most fasteners down to m3 from a local engineers supplies - every town has one.

Or. . . . Longer bolts and two ordinary nuts, the second of which locks the first
