  • Align 600 / Schluter Champion marriage

    Hi,
I've married together a Schluter Champion with an Align 600 head, relatively straight foward. However, Ihave a problem. The Align 600 head has 12mm blade root and the original Champ had 14mm. The Blade holders are interchangeable on the feathering shaft so could swap over to old blade holders (14mm metal ones). Heres my question; I can't seem to locate a set of 700mm blades with a 65mm chord. Length is 700 which is OK but all seem to be with a 60mm chord,i.e. reduced lift over the blade and rotor disc, should I be looking for a 65-70mm chord or am i worrying about nothing? This thing weighs a ton and I don't won't to over stress the rotor blades.

    Hopefully pictures show a bit.

Well you're probably the first person ever to put an Align head on a Schluter Champion!

Regarding the blades, I think 700 is way too long. (unless you have a longer boom). The original champion ran blades that were not much more than 600mm, maybe 660 at the most.

I had a Champion briefly before selling it on.

I don't think it's a very heavy bird either, should be under 5 kilos (unless you're putting it in a scale fuselage).
