  • Trip down memory lane lol

It's been ages since i watched this video of my second ever proper flight where i went nose in from back in August 09.After 6 months of many, many hours on the simulator.I forget the fear, the butterflies and adrenaline buzz....it's just bought it all back watching it.

Thanks to Cagey for turning up that evening and being brave to stand so close to a very nervous pilot

Boy did that open the door to many more hours of enjoyment since

Anyone else catch their first(or second) proper flight on film???

Nice one Pete,i never stuck with the training gear very long after wearing a cable tie out on our tarmac drive which flipped my old blade 400 over in the drive causing loads of damage.

Sooooo wish the mcpx had came out back then, would of certainly made it easier to learn the basics

Well while we are reminiscing, Jan 2009 with my Honey Bee. I'd spend about 4 weeks on the sim hovering then went for it!

Eeek, indoors too. What a wally. Lol!

Neither did I when I look back. I binned the training gear after 5 weeks and never looked back.

Yeah the MCPx would have made things much easier when I started too. But I'd already learnt to hover tail in by the time I got it, but I did learn a lot getting nose in right on it.

I've never been much for using the Sim, only really started using it a bit recently. I like flying the real thing not playing on the computer

This was my first flight in an open space, all the other flights were with a Lama V3.

Nice one Phil. I remember cracking nose in hovering, felt amazing!

My first ever CP flight (after bashing msr for a week or two), 16 months ago.

3 months later first proper flying.

                The rest is history

It's amazing that you think it's never going to click, it does and even more amazing is that you pop into a hover without even thinking. All that concentration when you start and you do it second nature now. Great hobby

                        Memory Lane,

Here is one of my flights in 1986 with my original "blue" Shuttle.

                        Shuttle in 1986! - YouTube

Please forgive the video quality as that was taken with an old Beta video recorder!! And flown with a basic non-computerized radio and a mechanical Kraft gyro!!
