I am staying neutral and focused during this arguement

I personally think the Spartan looks very good, very likely to be getting one myself as i am possibly outflying the comfort area of a 401 and dont like dual unit ones like the 611 so a Spartan ticks all the boxes

I am begining to change my mind on the Spartan chris I had a lot of trouble getting it set up on my little v2 se I had the gain down to 20% before the tail would stop shaking which isnt good I put a longer horn on & it was a bit better but still not great.
The instructions arent quite right in that they dont mention that when setting the gyro up inverted like on the trex 450 se v2 you actualy need to push right stick when doing the first bit of the set up not left otherwise the gyro wont push left when the tail goes right took me a fair time to realise this omission.
At the moment my 502 is performing better than either of my spartans.

what mounting are you using with the spartans? I have been using the supplied thin white foam with the metal plate on a futaba gyro pad.

low gain suggests servo horn too long not too short

I'm using the smallest wheel futaba supply Ade then I swapped it for a four armed horn on the second hole out from the middle I think my gain is around 34% now.
I am using just the white tape supplied with no metal plate also it's inverted on the back mount this makes setting it up via the instructions impossible as if you do push the stick left so the gyro senses directions as requested the gyro functions in reverse at the end of set up.

On the 600af the gain is again very low around 40% I am using the mounting arangement reccomended in the booklet i.e thin tape metal plate then 5 pads. Does heading hold work tho under 45% as the solid led goes out under 45% on mine.

it was found that the stock foam is a bit too soft the current batch of gyros come with 3mm pad similar to the futaba ones.

how long is the servo horn on the 600? you want to be around 12mm

try that let us know how you get on.

rcslopesurfer......i run a spartan on my own 450se and in a word....awesome (you may have seen the video on the sparta thread of me and the 450). plug and play. do you have the usb lead?

can you give me more info like what servo your using, what headspeed your getting or motor/pinion combo etc.

if your getting wag then putting the arm further out will not help this but make it worse. your doing something just not quite right with your setup here but with more info i'm sure can sort it.

                          cheers

                            rcslopesurfer,
we used CSM foam pads in the first 20-30 gyros while we were waiting for own pads to arrive. If you PM your address I'll send you a pack of the new stuff. The user guide is updated to reflect the change and you can view it on our website.

What servo are you using on your trex450? The gain is relevant to many factors, primarily, to servo arm length, rotor RPM and tail blades. There is nothing wrong setting as low as 20% if the tail holds well. If that is not the case, a possible cause for the shakes would be a slow tail servo. The ds760 is tuned to expect a reasonably fast response from the tail servo. If the servo is slow and the gain high it will likely create overshoot therefore wag. One thing is for sure, the ds760 can perform very well on small helicopters too as raptorheli2's video shows: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr4pl4r0lf0[/ame]

should also say the above is mounted on a single nitto pad (known as futaba these days) with no plate for reference.

also on the trex 600 as ade says about 12-13mm is a sweet spot as it allows the gain to be high and get good stop performance without tweaking. this is how my own 600 is setup. this is only heli i've tried it on so far the shorter arm is needed. i have a few ideas on why that is but anyway, for your needs stick the arm to about 12-13mm and punt the gain up.

another thing i seen you mention was getting it into setup mode, you actually had to push right. i think you'll find this did not work because your rudder channel was reversed altough i understand wha your saying about you were not to know but i'm sure that was all that caused this.

let us know exactly the setups your running and we'll sort this out.

                              cheers
