Ive recently been having trouble with my 50 hyper cutting out mid flight, and its always at a similar point! i can fly round doing circuits,rolls and flips without a problem but if do a fast inverted climbout and roll or flip the heli back the right way up the engine has been instantly cutting out??,the only change i have done with this engine recently is alter the needles a couple of clicks for the cold mornings! any ideas folks

I had same symptoms turn out to be the pipe in the tank had a very fine spit just at the point where it fits tank unionToday's outlook is fine for flying.- Spektrum DX18 gen2, Phoenix Sims, Align MR25XP.

My 600 fitted with a OS 55 is doing the same when a turn the heli upsaide down the engine note changes or it stops, got to change all the fuel pipes, tighten the exhaust and check the niple clear and tight, if that fails get a YS 60.....Heli central...Basildon RC helis...strictly helis only...

Hey.
You might also be running a bit lean around the mid range area, which you are hitting in the flip over. Does the smoke dissappear just before it stops and are you using a govenor?
I would imagine that you are and the reason I ask is that as you flip over and the load on the head decreases, the govenor will lower the throttle to compensate. By doing this the carb is then brought back into/through the lean area of carboration and the engine cuts. Definetly the Hypers like to run a richer bottom end needle, to the point of almost stopping if left idling for too long, to get over the lean point in the mid range. As there is no mid range needle on the Hyper 50, you need to run the idle richer to effect the mid point.
We had a similar problem in the club last summer with WaveyDaveys new OS55 cutting out in pretty much the same scenario. I suggested to richen up the mid range and it went away, but it was easier on a 3 needle carb
Fuel lines can have small pin prick holes in them from new, so if the above doesn't help I would change the lines again. Also check the bore of the tubing used, thin walled tubing can be sucked inwards with high fuel rate demands. Also your thicker tubing could be kinking as the clunk moves about in the fuel tank, rather than loosley following the tank of fuel as it rolls around.

Sometimes, as the rear bearings in an engine start to go, the first sign will be such flame-outs, then bearing noise, then glow plug failures and then a catastrophic engine failure.
Another cause is if you use a sealer between the muffler and the engine, pieces of it can start breaking away on the inside of the manifold and get ingested into the cylinder. When this contaminant hits the glow plug it will cause the engine to quit.Rep for Leisure-Tech Products & Futaba
