  • Sending money abroad.....

I need to send a small amount of us dollars to bantam in Korea to obtain some spare parts.

My own bank wants to charge me £30 to send $55 to Korea.

Does anyone know of a reliable service that will do this for a reasonable fee.

    Regards

If you 100% trust the recipient, Western Union would be cheaper... or Paypal.

      Yeah - +1 the above.

I've used Western Union several times - pretty good and easy to set up.

      Cheers,

Western union will only allow an in store pickup to Korea, no direct bank transfers.

They were my first thought but no luck.

Edit; unless I have to confirm ID for that feature.

I tend to use Paypal when I send money abroad like to Kasama etc but if not then I would do a BT and be done with it, a quick call to my account manager bloke and its done.

You should have the option of doing a slower transfer with a lower fee. Who you bank with?

Just a word of caution with Paypal. I sent €300 to a friend, and 2 weeks after they received it - paypal took the money back from my friend but did not credit me. Their claimed reason was 'fraud' though no-one had complained (not the banks at either end) - paypal then claimed it was some automated system. I had to get the police involved to get paypal to return the money to me (despite them having removed it from my friend's account).

I know lots of people have no problems with paypal - but when things go wrong, it gets messy quickly.
