  • Main Blades

I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands.

I need to get some blades for my 600N, and I don't know what to buy I already have a 600E with TT blades on and don'y have any complaints about them. I'm just starting to get into sport flying, and with the high head spead required on the 600N I don't know which blades to go for?

Unfortunately price will play a factor it this, and also the fact that I am starting some thing new with the sport flying so a crash could be likely

I would like a set of Raddix @ £65 but I'm not sure, I know they are going to be one of the best blades, but a: I'm don't know if my flying warrents them yet, and b: whilst I'm trying to get confident with sport flying it could get very expensive.

I know at the end of the day you probably get what you pay for, but I just wondered what people thought of blades like TT's, Align 600 Carbons and I think motors and rotors are doing the 600mm SAB's at £40.

From what I've heard, there are tracking issues with the current TT's, major failures and tracking issues on some Align carbon blades, and SAB's are very thin and can be damaged when folded back.

    Is it just false economy?

    Cheers

Have you thought about the Radix seconds?
I can't remember where I saw these posted, possibly on CY's site.
That way you can have the quality without the added expense.

I guess if you're careless, this is possible?
I never had a problem with the SAB blades I used - they are good blades, and well priced too.
      If that helps your decision?

I read an article earlier this year that compared the MAH X Blade 600, GCT X-pert 600, V-Blade 600, TT600, SAB 0330, Maniac 603 and the Radix 600 for 3D flight and tested on a TRex 600e. I quote " All the blades tested work well and there is not a bad one amongst them". Their personal favorites were Maniac 603 and Radix 600.

        Hope this helps.

        Regards,

        Andy

I've been flying SAB Carbon 600's for several years and I think they are a great blade for the price. I certainly haven't found them to be a thin blade, if anything I would say they are more solid than some others

I read an article earlier this year
That would be the article in MHW magazine?
Written by the guys who developed the BBT Maniac blades, but with an objective viewpoint and scientific methods employed for some of the testing involved, I believe.
I was sceptical "going in" to that review, but I felt they were quite fair in their test and reviews - though not suprising their own blades won through in the end...

As the article stated though, they're all pretty good
            Doesn't help much, however!
            Cheers,

Check out www.captaincrash.co.uk for some new blades that are just being imported, not sure how good they are but I think it was steve boothman we were talking to at 3D UK about them and he seems to think they are pretty good.

Slightly off topic but what's the difference between the align a, b, & c blades etc ? just curious.

I think these blades are "evolving" over time.
                Hopefully, getting better?
There is a "D" blade now too...

ive heard there is a problem with the align 600 blades. there have been a few accidents with the lead weights flying out the end of the blades causing injuries and crashes to helis. some flying clubs have banned the 600 align blades.

if you get some i will hide behind my car when your flying
                  cheers

I'm running a set of Carbon/Glass TT main blades on my 600n from Fast Lad, and although I'm still very much at the hovering only stage, I've had no tracking issues.

Ive been using mainly TT blades 550's 600's and now 620's ive never had a problem with any of the ones ive had.

As I said recently in another thread ive been a little concerned but what ive been hearing regarding these blades, and I thought time for a change.

Im using the radix on the knight and I was thinking of getting the manics or sab for the Raptor. Im not using any of them for any extreme stuff im just not capable yet, I think practising tic tocs must be the most stressful to the blades that I do.
                      All the best

The Align a,b,c blades are because they had production problems and are putting new numbers on the new blades so you know they are (hopefully) better.
If buyinhg the TT blades then try to look at them for warp before you pay. Put them against a straight edge or together then turn one upside down and together.

You can try BBT evolutions (fast-lad). They were fine for me. Great auto performance. Cyclics are faster on the radix.

BBT evos are very heavy...so great autos but not much else.
Align 'a' series are the only ones with lead weights flying out. The 'D' series aren't a bad blade compared to other cheap alternatives.

What about NHP's ? they are a great blade for the money ( I have been told this by a few (people)
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                            And a DX8 too

Thought NHP`s were pretty good(till I wrecked them)
                              Not great for auto`s though.
Switched to Radix`s now and am uber impressed, wouldn`t go back again.
