  • Unbelievable :(

Second time in a week . Hovers absolutely perfectly for about 3 minutes, both on normal and self level. Then... it just tips over when toggling self level...

    Damage is:

Boom, new blades, new skids, fins, main gear, another main shaft, tail gear, boom braces, DS510 gear set, DS650 gear set, rudder control rod, ball links, and probably loads of other things I haven't discovered yet.

I think I'm going to sell the electronics and parts; I really can't afford to fix it now, and certainly can't afford the £100 price tag for every crash!

seems I'm not alone with the problem - there are about 2 threads on HF with this happening on a 400.

I think I should have stuck with the Protos, it was a real pain to fix and quite fragile but at least the parts were cheap.

Ah mate, that sucks to see . Sorry to see that.

I've never really liked self level much whenever I have used a helicopter with it.

Personally mate I think you should get a 450 or smaller, leave your Logo 400 hidden away somewhere for the time being. Practice on a smaller heli first with lower crash costs .

hmm I may go the 450 route again. However it is so annoying when they crash for no reason - if it was my fault I would understand and not get annoyed about it, because at least I'd have learned something.

I have had about 8 hours of flying with the Logo and the HC3SX, and the bail-out was great - it levels in about a second. Its really just these last 3 days that its started acting so strangely.

My advice is to have a really good look at your electrical connections. If you put the sk720 back on, the logging it records is second to none and will show any uncommanded servo action or voltrage drops etc. This may give you a bettr idea of whats going on. The Sk unit unless faulty wont showthe symtoms your heli is showing.

I had a similar problem with a t600 pro , i would be hovering fine and suddenly the heli would roll to the right and crash. I rotated the servos to see if they were faulty and the same thing happened. Eventually i traced it down to a cracked solder inside tmy hercules bec.

As i say check all your electronics very carefully.

All the tip-overs with the other logo 400s on HF seem to be with a Vbar.

I am sending my HC3SX back to Germany for testing. The servos were all fine with new gear sets, the I'm pretty sure the ESC is OK , I'll check the logs on it in a bit.

            I don't have the SK720 any more.

Tipping over twice for no reason is almost 100% vibrations, you must find them first, when you removed the main and tail blades and spooled up could you feel any vibs, ie touch the boom, the side frames etc or could you hear or see any?

Thanks but as I said I've given up on it as I can't fix it again - i'm splitting it and selling the electronics and I'll just concentrate on the 600.

I spent ages setting it all up after the first tip over - balanced the tail, made the gear mesh right, adjusted COG and from what I can remember the vibrations weren't too bad when spooling up, but I'm not 100% sure. It definitely sounded OK

I even managed to recreate the tip over after the first crash: Logo 400 HC3SX vid 2.mp4 - YouTube , although this stopped after I remounted the FBL controller.

Sorry to hear that youve been having bad luck too . What I cant seem to understand though is how a 700e costs the same to crash as a logo 400?

I got very lucky with both my crashes ive gotta say.the nitro went in inverted into 10" of snow so only did blades, boom, supports and fuel tank. The E i didnt factor the canopy into as i had a spare,so thats actually a £180 crash.even sicker now lol.

The marks on your boom look exactly the same as the ones I used to get. It took me about 3 months to find the fault. It was on one of the servos and when the revs went up slightly above hover the servo would just move to one end on its own. This tilted the head too much and caused the strike. Is it possible that you had a boom strike before your heli hit the ground? It sounds as though the sytem is unstable at switch over and giving you an invalid output, probably for a short time. You might be able to reproduce this without the main blades on. I think that's how I found mine. It was just a wire that had broken but was still just touching, until the revs got high enough to make it move. I expect you have something in your unit that's died or become loose and it's involved in controlling the switch over. It is annoying when it happens once, but the second time is much worse.

Thanks. I'm sure there wasnt a boom strike before it hit the ground, however there's always the possibility that a servo is at fault. However, both times this happened when the gain on the FBL controller was increased (to self level), so it is unlikely that it would happen as soon as I toggle the switch both times if it is the servo.

I've just put the logo up for sale but thanks for offering . I've also still got all my logs from when I had it and I don't think I changed anything apart from the FBL controller.

I've sent both my HCs off to Germany for testing, but I think I'll now be sticking to just my 600 when the BEC finally arrives, and maybe I'll get a 250 or 450 as well. I hope that
