Roll On Summer!

Yesterday was a nice sunny day, no wind, very dry air, so it was actually quite pleasant out. I even washed and polished the car. Today we congragated at the field for our regular Sunday morning flight club at 8am, and sweet jesus was it cold. The car was showing -6, still a good 3-4 inches of snow on the ground, over-cast and quite humid. In short, bloody freezing. Then to top it all off, we had a nasty white-out of snow come down, very heavy for about half hour or so!



After a few hours of flying, about 11am we took these pictures!







Roll on the summer! (Although by then we will be complaining of constant rainy days, excessive winds, and "cold" days )

I'll second that.

Got to the club this morning and there was still snow everywhere, it started to warm up, the snow melted a bit but that just meant by 2pm we were knee deep in mud!

Mate, as long as it not freezing I'll be happy as I will be able to get back down the field properly and have a decent days flying

It was +7C at the field today and that was cold enough for me Was just about to maiden the OS55 when the start OWB siezed!

Quite bizarre that Jamie, We have had about the best flying day this year up here in Yorkshire.

Zero wind but overcast making the model really easy to see and fly.

Had the best day's flying this year bar none and to add to that my flying is coming on too.

Yesterday was the Eisbaertreffen (Polar bear meeting) and it lived up to it's name, Thick snow _9.5 and kids ice skating on the pond, Over 100 pilots turned up all in all was a good day, But like you I'm looking forward to warmer temps to go flying in!

I left home yesterday morning at 8am to go to London for work. As I pulled off the drive, the outside temperature gauge on my car was reading -9.5

By the time I'd driven 5 miles and was out of town and in the country, it reached a low of -15

In the middle of London about 10.30am, it was +2

Never seen freezing fog like it.

We had some rain just before I was going to pop to the local field for a quick fly and by the time I went out to the car there was a layer of ice over it, it was very odd lol.

But went to the field unfortunately only about 3 mins into flying and I stripped my main gear and I only took the one still had a quick chat with the lads and came home.

I did 3 packs yesterday, -3 but bright blue skies and sunny - brilliant. Today did my first pack - +2 degrees but grey cloud, couldn't see a thing and crashed in the snow having lost orientation . I'd rather have colder but clear skies !

I've put about 30 packs through mcpx today/yesterday, but had to go back to the house every 6 or so, because my fingers were freezing. Didn't dare to go to the field and won't until it's at least +10C

Yes, bring on the spring and summer, but please no crap 25 mph winds from mid March till mid May, like last year. I'd rather have cold days tbh.
P.s. Mkej, get yourself a pair of Nimbus glasses, their yellow glasses do magic in overcast conditions. They alos come with medium and dark ones.
