Ok, just plugged in my new 50amp ESC and motor and it powered up the motor stalled and then the esc burst into flames! melted the EPP plane it was attached too and smoke from the motor! I cant test the motor at the moment but will HK replace the ESC? I had to lenghtign the battery leads as they were too short for the plane they are going into!

I was told that the size of the escs capacitors should increase with longer power leads but im no electronics nerd so dont know why ??????

me reckons it could of been a short, looks like it took one of the cables connecting the phases off :/

Lucky no! it was on my desk at the time! like I said been using it all night to set servos up, then connected the motor and wooosh!! Hoping the motor is ok there was some smoke come from the can, but cant test that now!

i have a 80 amp ESC with a 5amp UBEC that i know is in good working order you can have for free just pay ur postage and its urs. problem solved if u want it just let me know

You could complain to HobbyKing and send them a picture, saying that one or other of their components is at fault. Asmall increase in wire length shouldn't matter as there is a big tolerance on electrolytics. I did that with a Walkera rx from Hong Kong and got a replacement.
