  • can somebody explain this servo issue? video included

im setting the mechanical settings up before I enter DIR mode to see if this resolves my issue,

im settig up the swash again and my elevator is acting odd on increasing throttle causes it to tilt forward or move up to fast and on the way to low throttle to fast causing the swash to lean back.

connect all up, turn on with button held down, when lights flash release button, then do the 0 at mid stick, sub trim etc, pitch then move on and set the rest

does the swash move in the right direction when you tilt the heli backwards and forward and left to right? if so id fly it, FBL systems have a habbit of doing strange things.

my BX does the same thing as you 3gx and it flys great

On start up if it don't self level and jump up and down three times I wouldn't fly it. I have fl760 and mine self levels and jumps u/d 3 times on power up then all good to go no tilting nothing

Phil i've just watched you video, it may just be an optical illusion but you elevator link (from rear servo)seems to be a different angle to the centre of the main shaft when compared to the pitch and ali links are you sure the elevator link ball is on the inner hole of the servo horn like the other 2?

                          Hi Phil,

I'm still not sure what you mean by the 3gx saving settings? In dir mode all the 3gx is doing is sleeping and hence not doing any of its normal functions like measuring uncommanded heli movement and correcting it! It just passes any inputs from the receiver (or spektrum sats in your case) straight to the relevant servos. The 3gx is not saving anything!

After you finish with your radio setup - servo reversing, swash levelling, pitch range and directio via the swash mixing menu in your tx etc (all done in dir mode) you then need to push the button to enter the rest of the setup process. You then set aileron and elevator limits and gyro directions etc as detailed in the manual. After all this the 3gx should reset and do the 3 swash plate up down ups and then sit more or less level. You now need to go and do the tail setup routine.

Sorry if this is all obvious! If your 3gx is starting up as normal - doing the 3 up downs and then the swash starts to move very erratically with no heli movement or stick input, something is very wrong! What it should do after the 3 up downs is sit relatively still until you move a transmitter stick. When you move the stick it won't move like it did in dir mode - it will move the swash plate to obtain the heli movement that your stick input is asking for! It is normal for it to move the swashplate to its limit in a particular direction if you hold in a small amount of stick input. Its recognizing that the heli is not moving as it expects or wants it to, hence is giving more swashplate movement to try and achieve the roll or whatever you have input. Its really important to understand that you are no longer in control of the swashplate directly! You ask the 3gx to make the heli roll for example and it then decides how to make that happen! Heading hold on the tail works the same!

Sorry again if this is obvious! It wasn't to me when i first did this!

                          Hope it works for you
