  • MCPX Repairs...

    Well...

My poor little MCPX has been knocked about a bit. Always been able to repair it. Now, the tail boom has broken and more worryingly so has the black wire from the board to the tail motor. There is about 5 mil of wire on the tail motor, then it breaks. I have no idea how this can be fixed. I wouldn't have thought it could be soldered, the wire seems too fine. And it would be way beyond my skills.

Does anyone have any ideas, or if I send it back to HH - will they refurb it? Any ideas welcome!

either that, or order a new one lol,

I have to hand it to HH, most of the time, even when it is crash damage such as this, they still fix it and send it back to you, but how come we do it lol?? We wouldnt dream of sending an Align tail back to get repaired if we crash it, or send you futaba servo's back after a crash lol, but we insist in sending the weee mcpx back to HH, sometimes even when it is our own fault

I know.... HH are very good that way. I have to admit, their cust service is excellent. I don't think I am alone in saying that knowing they offer the service they do has influenced alot of my buying decisions, most notably my Spektrum radio gear. Also, when people send the heli's back to HH - I think they expect to pay to have it fixed, I know I do. If it costs £30 or £40 to have it fixed, it is still alot less than ordering a new one. So I will willingly pay to have it fixed.

            Hi Stanley..

It's the broken wire, I can't see how I can solder it, or reconnect it reliably. It is so fine.

the wire is pre fitted to a new boom assembley. Its very simple to change

I have soldered a V1 and a V2 tail motor with no problems with my old eyes and fingers. It does help to have some crocodile clip holders to hold the wires in place. Get it fixed, NOW.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

Fantastic!! I didn't realise I could order the part, I thought it was soldered to the main board - many thanks for that! Ordered one already!
