  • 2 things from the weekend

Well, I like to post about new stuff that I have done flying wise, this weekend, I with a little help ( cheers Edders ), pulled off 3 stationary flips , 2 backwards, and 1 forwards. I will say I was on a lead, and it wasn't my heli ( cheers Edders again ), but still what a rush, still shaking now...

The other thing is i treated myself to a Zimmerman pipe which I have been threatening to do for a long while, any advice on engine retuning before flying with the new (and infinetly better than the stock) muffler?
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

    And a DX8 too

    well done Jamez good one.

I don't feel ive acomplished anything unless I come back at least once from a flight feeling like that, afterall it only happens if you have pushed your comfort zone.

as I do whenever I fit anything new that can affect the engine tuning, I richen it up a little fly it around to get the engine up to working temp then feel the backplate, doing the usual 3 clicks a time until I get it where the backplate is getting a little uncomfortable to touch after 7-8 seconds.
    good tip there Ade
    All the best
    Tony.

30 size engines run hotter than 50's though, so holding your finger on the backplate for 8 seconds could get painful, even though it's running sweet.

Definitely go rich to start with, and get a feel for the power delivery. If it's bogging, it's probably too rich and can be leaned off.

The zimmerman pipe will definitely deliver more power over the stock shi... erm... muffler
      It'll be quieter too
      Cheers,

I have a zimmerman on my rappy 30 fitted to an os37, it does run a little hot but you can still get a few seconds of finger time on the back plate without too much problem and power delivery is smooth right thru the range. Thats using 12% magnum. Just check the exhaust after the first flight or two as the heat can cause it to loosen up to begin with.

Well done on the flips James.

Must have been the weekend for it, did my first loops with a Raptor and piros with the Shuttle on Sunday

Also experienced my first lockout on the PCM and put the Trex in. Landed upside down but due to the lockout the motor was not running and only minor damage.

            What a rush

My thanks to Steve (The Manager) and the chaps up the field.

Blimey Loops and piro's now, the extreme 3D hovering is going from strengh to strengh, watch out Szabo, and Youngblood here come Jamez and Mark.

Sorry to hear about the Rex, I don't think it likes you.

I think you may be right

Mind you, it does fly very well and just before the lockout I was throwing it about a bit

I cannot believe how little damage it sustained though. I think it will become my 'practise new manooooverr machine'

                Cheers
