What happens if you short a 12s set up together by mistake...

Maidened my new trex 700E V2 on friday.

In my haste to get it back in the air after tweaking did i:

a) connect both lipos in series then to the esc like normal? or...........

b) connect them in series then to each other,instead of the esc (perhaps my 700e didnt need an esc i thought?)

flash burnt hand,exploded bullet connectors,wounded pride,idiot.etc etc.

sat back and couldnt believe id just done it.I got off very lightly,and amazingly the packs seem to have survived my stupidity.

By the way the heli is a powerhouse and cant wait to fly it again!

ec5's are the answer i think,ive been there and done it with bullets

You were lucky buddy, saw your hand...........& those bullets or what was left of em, but 44 volts would do that!!! Molten metal, good job you had some shades on with that shrapnell flying! AS THE SAYING GOES.... ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY!!

I use 5.5 bullets and always use blue heat shrink on the bullets that need to be connected together and the red positive female and black negative male for the esc, simples

I use powerpole connectors. No soldering.

iv'e done it twice, black hands heart in overdrive. I don't think it will damage the lipos though as they draw a lot of current in normal use. A split second high current draw will probably be ok.

Do what tony Stevens and Jeff Spiderspid have done and make your esc into the link cable buy using two ec5 connectors then you can't go wrong if using two packs. It's fool proof.

I had a 10s flightpower puff a cell on it's first flight, decided to short it out using a pair of car jump leads, there was a small pop with a disappointed small flame.
Once one cell pops then the short has gone, now over charging is a whole different ball game.

This is how I have been doing all mine for some time. You cant see the ESC but you can see the + and - lead and then just join them
