If you want to be able to see your heli whilst flying dont use Magnum.
or buy a thermal imaging head set.

I love the fact that magnum is so smokey...its great watching the smoke trail behind the heli when you doing big loops.

My point exactly Stuart your so busy watching the flaming smoke the heli could be doing anything well it could if it were me flying it, I would be mezmerised by it.

The best fuel is the one that gives you reliabilty and consistency day in day out....with so many variables we are all gonna favour one brand or another so I don't truely think you will ever be able to say this or that brand is the 'best'.

If you have a glow plug/ fuel combo that works then stuff what everyone else says!!!

I aint gonna slate someone because I don't like their particular favourite brand so long as they don't start telling me that I should be using this brand or that brand especially if my fuel/plug combo is working just fine!!!

On Pro Synth Comp 20% here.. does the job fine even with 9% oil

but Magnum and Wildcat and cool power (long time ago) have all worked for me in the end and not one has given any really issues until I came accross a gallon of 20% wildcat that my Hyper hated and then Pro Synth has been the fuel since. Smoother as well get longer flight times...

yukky stuff but as Biggles says fly what works for you

For my 3D flying I use Wildcat Youngblood Performance 30% (official title) AKA, Curtis 30%.

I've used Magnum in the past to great effect too.
I find Wildcat keeps the engine cleaner inside.

I use either wildcat 20 (club gets it at a good rate) or magnum 20, used to use coolpower 10 - 15 whilst hovering, but now I have used a higher nitro content I would'nt go back. And high nitro coolpower is pricey stuff.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                    And a DX8 too

Ade. I don't know how you can say UK stuff gives problems one way or another. I and I dare say many modellers have been using UK stuff for many years (40 in my case ). It has been my experience that the vast number of "fuel problems" are usually finger trouble eg: duff plugs, less than acceptable plumbing and not forgetting the needle twiddler's

to put it simply when somebody comes to me with with an engine that is giving issues especially getting a consistent tune. after checking fuel lines, ditching filters and retuning doesnt help changing fuel does.

my experience noted above with prosynth plank fuel only goes to add to the argument.

even when they do run right they dont produce the same power as US fuel with the same nitro content.

try magnum/cool power/wildcat you wont be dissapointed.

just one thing i havnt covered... yes the US fuel is a US gallon which 3.78 litres rather than 4.54litres but if you do the maths on the cost it still works out cheaper or at worst the same price as the "good quality" UK fuel.

There are no "Bad" fuels nowaday's, but once you've made your choice of fuel and tuned your engine to it, just stay with it, and don't be tempted to chop and change as that's a recipe for disaster.

I've used Coolpower 20% in my YS engines for a good while now with superb result's.

I may be mistaken but that's not what Ade has just said.
So once again we British are so inept that we cant make a simple methanol blend and we have to buy from the almighty yank. Quite few years ago the dogs danglers to name two was Model Technics and Flair double orange till some dope let his kid drink it. I never heard a bad word said about either.
I respect your opinion Ade but we will agree to disagree.

I've had various people comment on how their bearings have rusted up in their engine after using Magnum 20% has anyone else heard/seen this?

Does Mangnum 30% have a higher oil content than 20%

I will be getting my first nitro up in the air soon and still don't know which fuel to use

                                Cheers
